Been scared off Cape York for this year, don't want to travel thousands of kilometres to be stuck in crowds, so we're going elsewhere.

I read a month or so ago somewhere, that Binns Track was closed due to weather damage.

Anyone know if this is correct or not??

Maybe start here: Phone: 08 8999 5051
Email: info@oldandado.com.au
Web: https://www.oldandado.com.au
Binns is part of the Old Andado and there is a place here: https://www.exploroz.com/places/28446/nt+old-andado
And a Trek note here; https://www.exploroz.com/treks/old-andado-track

Old Andado is pretty much abandoned now by the sounds.
No phone there at Old Andado, not sure where their office is, probably ASP ?

Just checked that # and it seems to be part of Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority, Tourism and Culture.
It's actually a Darwin prefix.
Maybe they manage the caretaking and maintenance of Old Andado, if correct.

You'd be better to call Mt Dare, as they use Binns Tk to get to ASP to get supplies, possibly when other roads are closed.
Have seen Binns under a lot of water and their Landcruiser with fuel trailer behind, heading up to get fuel when tankers couldn't get up to them.

Also, Andado Station looks after the Old Andado lease holding (as far as grazing goes), maybe try them on 08 8956 0804.

Was a post the other day saying the start of Binn's Track has a detour because of water damage, but the track is open I believe. If you do decide to travel it, I would suggest factor in a couple of days R&R at Old Police Station Waterhole. Did a search of the forum and only found two references to Binn's Track, none from recent times.

Hi Pete,

The information on the link you provided is dated October 2019. I think it might be a little out of date. :-)

Each road is separately updated.
Look elsewhere and you will find it is updated daily.

Check Mt Dare, Facebook I think, it was on there but wasn’t on NT Roads website about 3 weeks ago. Was supposed to open in June after grader has been through.

Hi Siringo

Actually on Binns track ATM, the only section that was closed was Mt Dare to Old Andado, detour is through New Crown station. The closed section was due to be open about now, doesn’t really matter as you can take the detour.

Can I suggest a second detour (should you wish to) is to go via McDonald Downs and into the Mac & Rose Chalmers conservation reserve, breathtaking 360° views if you able to climb Tower Rock . Great views even from part of the way up.

There is Plenty to see and do, Enjoy

Regards
