Mulga Park Road conditions 2021

Hi all. We're planning to travel from Yulara(Uluru) to Lamberts Centre, has anyone done this relatively recently? No worries with our setup (Hilux & offroad hybrid) but the other setup is towing a semi-offroad van.
Leaving tomorrow and I'd like a more interesting drive than back down the main road to the Stuart Hwy. We normally plan further ahead, this is a bit of a spir of the moment change to our plans.

Cheers
Brett

Not recently, but in the past it has been a favourite route for us over many years in vehicles ranging from Minis and VW Kombi Campers.
It is a "road", not a "track".
Don't try it in the wet.

Thanks
Yeh wow! There is some rain around so will check at Curtain Springs to see if there's any reports of water on the road.

Drove it today. Most of the way it was quite well maintained, and they had the grader on the sections that would have been atrocious last week!

Hoping the weather holds for the next couple of days.

The road from Kilgera to Fink is a well-formed dirt road. 80 - 90kmph

The track from that into Lamberts is a track with lots of washouts. You just have to pick your lines well and take some time. I took my Tvan in there a few times.

Thanks

She's going to follow us into Lamberts centre and we'll see how it goes. Plenty of recovery gear if needed.

I recommend checking the current weather forecast for central Australia there's a huge amount of rain forecast for that whole area

Just checked Weatherzone for Kulgera area, and there’s 90% chance of 5-10mm, with scattered thunderstorms predicted. Also hot conditions for part of Simpson.

Might be wise to base yourselves at Kulgera & do a day trip out to Lamberts, rather than tow out there? We went through road from Kulgera, Finke & Old Andado, back in June after good rain, and there wasn’t too much to stop us. We weren’t towing though.

Thanks all!

We're currently sitting at Yulara, leaving in the morning. And have been watching the weather so well aware of forecasts. That's part of the reason for a change of itinerary, flooded sections on a different area we were going to.

Will check at Curtain Springs for the Mulga Park Road section, the at Kulgara for the run to the centre, and on from there. Have found the NT road conditions site to be not as helpful as the SA one.
