G'day,
I am tossing up whether to go to the the Finke race this year.
For those that have been before can you
camp any where (within reason) or there designated areas.
From what I've watched on Utube it seems to be you can
camp anywhere.
Any advice welcome.
William
Ok. I've been having a look and have sort of found the answer.
Any advice in regards to camping with a caravan there and travelling to there would still be appreciated.
Coming from south of
Sydney.
William

My recollection of those forms and information is that not much has changed almost since the inception of the race. Albeit the management of human waste in all its forms has definitely got a lot better.
Just remember once you are camped you are normally there for the duration of the race

Just got an email from the Race Office, the camping for 2022 will be pretty much the same as 2021. This is the email I got back.
"The information for spectators in general will be the same. There will be updates, once these are finalised they will be uploaded.
If there is anything in particular you were enquiring about please email back your phone number and I’ll give you a call."
Prompt reply and helpful. Cheers.

William : my experience . go and find a spot early , the road ( old south road )(SA) is a mad place at times & very corrugated w high traffic use this time of year . We like to
camp near & the same side of the road as the Hugh river stock route as this let you out to the main south road with out having to deal with MASS !! exit after the race finish .. somewhere you don't want to be with van .. Finding a
camp spot wouldn't be a problem but there is a huge amount of others , it might be very sandy in
places , sand
hill are a good to spectate from a safe distance .. VERY dangerous near the track with last years death of a spectator also many drunk & inebriated party animal parties ..LOL going on ..
