Ruby Gap access

Hi David,
We took a Camper Trailer in there some years back despite being advised not to.
Dropped the tyre pressures on vehicle & trailer for the soft sandy riverbed sections & just took it easy.
Were only planning on a short stay but loved the area & stayed for a week. Found a lovely informal camp spot by the riverbed & dug for water near a bend so had plenty for washing etc.
Found the old rocky gravesite on a rise near the riverbed. Be sure to hike to Glenn Annie Gorge. Absolutely lovely place & the acoustics in the Gorge were amazing.
We were told it was possible to get a vehicle to Glen Annie Gorge (without trailer) but glad we walked as I reckon we would have damaged the vehicle. Anyway the walk was lovely.

We took our Tvan in there and it was ok. We had to let the tyres down quite a lot - the sand was pretty soft in some sections.

Its always had a reputation of very boggy sand & even quick sand & of rugged going ..
Going back as long as i can remember.

Drop tyre pressures on the tow vehicle and trailer here. The track drops down to the Hale River almost immediately, crosses to the other side of the river, goes through an electric fence and then continues up the river bed. I don’t recall any campsites in the park before the river.





The river bed has coarse,granular,slippery sand as well as rocks and rock bands. Low tyre pressures can give adequate traction but clearance could be an issue particularly if towing. I personally had no problems towing an Ultimate with a 100 series landcruiser.

There are some great campsites. This one is about 4km from the entrance.
