Interesting about abandoned
Peak Hill mine. There is another abandoned
Peak Hill mine in Oz...in central NSW, which was an open cut gold
mine.
Peak Hill township is about mid way between
Parkes and Dubbo NSW...and the
old mine is just on the outskirts of town.

Yes Keith, I lived just north of
Parkes NSW (on the site of the CSIRO Radio Telescope actually as my dad worked there as chief scientist) in the early 1980s and I caught the
Peak Hill school bus from there into town. I also used to ride my horse from
home to
Peak Hill so I know the area very
well. But no, this is
Peak Hill in WA.

Then there is Old
Peake south of
Oodnadatta in SA which was a station
homestead, Overland Telegraph Station repeater and finally a major
mine.
Wonderful area to explore.
