Following on from Peter's post the other week, I was not able to load another photo, so hope this works.
This should be a dead easy photo to identify the location where it was taken.
Who is going to be the first to show your knowledge of Australia.

Dargo and
Omeo. Incidentally the photo is around 8 years old and there is or at least was a hut there now. I have attached the actual epitaph which is available online with a history explanation. Google Dog's Grave.

Hi Macca
It’s going to be one of our major Outback highways.
With that type of vegetation, looks similar to the Tanami, but don’t recall those 2 large poles.
My other guess the Plenty, but again don’t recall those posts.
Sorry, I know I have not given the correct answer.

Great photo Kenell and looks like it will take a few more hints.
Looks like somewhere where there are savanna
woodlands and looks like local heavy rain and covered the area, why the mass of great
wildflowers and the water that is still in place has not dried our yet.
Certainly not flooded floodplains, as all the areas up north that have the flooded floodplains have some form of paperbark trees, that cope with being flooded for a long time.
Any more hints……lol

It looks like this picture might have been a bit too obscure. It was taken in the South East
Kimberley region on W.A. a few kilometres west of
Fitzroy Crossing. It is known as
Lakeside Campground or Lake Ellendale, on Ellendale Station on the Great Northern Highway. No facilities, but a great place to
camp and relax.

Perhaps the
Anne Beadell Highway in the
Great Victoria Desert. As I haven’t yet travelled the ABH, the specific location of the tree and the lakes eludes me.

Another good suggestion but no cigar.
The largest deserts in Australia.
1.
Great Victoria Desert. 348,750 square km.
2.
Great Sandy Desert. 267,250 square km.
3.
Tanami Desert. 184,500 square km.
4.
Simpson Desert. 176,500 square km.
5.
Gibson Desert. 156,000 square km.
The mystery location is in the
Great Sandy Desert. The name of the location is ———————— Lakes.

John

The annotation on Hema’s map.
This extremely isolated spot is situated 5-7 hours drive east of the Wapet Rd. The access track is rough and becoming overgrown. Elegant white ghost gums provide a number of shady bush
camp sites.

Well done Peter. It is a remote spot and quite beautiful thanks to all the ghost gums and lakes. I was attracted to the area by Hema’s description. I saw no other vehicles in the area or on the Wapet Road/Kidson Track/Nyangumarta Highway between
Gary Junction Road and the Great Northern Highway.
This is the sign visible in my initial photo.
Gwenneth Lakes
Your turn again Peter.

John
