The oil goes to the recycling station. You will have to call Bris Council about the battery. I think they take them as
well, but the info line for the Council will give the correct answer.

Any metal recyclers will take the battery, but don't expect anything for it.
The dump or transfer station will take your oil, but you'll need to use a voucher!
I usually save it up and take it when I take other stuff to the dump.

When you pay your rates.... assuming you buy rather than rent. See my later post on this topic, and also write an email to Campbell
Newman.

Brisbane city council recycling stations take batteries and oily stuff. Just have to look for the right old trolley to put it on. Will also take up to 4 tyres. Need to use a general waste voucher though. As said before, save it til you're going anyway.

If you have a mate who lives in the pine rivers shire, they can dump Oil and batteries for free.
Brisbane council are encouraging people to dump contaminents by not allowing free dumping for small quantities such as Oil and batteries etc.
So I keep my 20L drum of old oil until I have somethign else to dump, which goes against the advise from the fire brigade who say dont keep that stuff around the
home.......

I have actually written a letter to Campbell
Newman advising him that we have to use a voucher.... or pay to dump oil in
Brisbane. Will get back to you with his reply if I get one.
What a wonderful way to get people to "do the right thing"!!!! (NOT)
Thanks Jim Soorley. He wrote back to me when I sent him such a letter, saying basically, he didn't think there was a problem with that. A Richard Cranium if ever there was one!!!!!
