Mate of mine has a sheep station up north and I asked him last week if he's had any rain up there lately

He replied rain, rain, are kidding me ? - one of my station hands passed out from the heat the other day and it took 3 buckets of dust to bring him to !

It is nothing to do with advertising qldcamper, Nick is purely pointing out that there are many great images of the storms on that Facebook page than you will ever see here on ExplorOz.

Not sure why so many of you backward thinking people think Facebook is the evil, that’s why ExplorOz also have a Facebook page……it’s called keeping ahead with the latest.

My comment had nothing to do with what you think Stephen, it was simply refering back to a thread where nick and Ivan accused me of advertising when I mentioned a company name.
They set the president, to mention something is to advertise it apparently.

No worries QLD, not aware of that, but as you know, many go well overboard with something that they really know nothing about.

And to make a correction, ExplorOz actually have 2 Facebook pages, a general page and a second page for the Traveller App.

It’s a pity this Facebook page was not used more and free up the ever ending questions asked here on this page.

Cheers

Dust storm remnants finally arrived in Tamworth around midday, just after 35mm of rain.
No where near as severe as above photo of course.
Sorry to run salt into the crow eaters wounds regarding the rain.

Not completely uncommon.
I was brought up in Broken Hill and spent most of the 60s and 70s there.
The first I seen was scary to me as I was about 5, late morning we were all rounded up and taken to the assembly hall as is was the largest room with lighting. The sun was dull red in the sky but not for long, it was completely blacked out, could see nothing outside the windows. I have no recall of how we got home or what the place was like when we got out, just the eerie red glow followed by blackness.

Reminds me of the WA wheatbelt back in the days of no till and lots of sheep.

Happy Explorer : I think what he means back in the day before no till , that refers to the farming practice of working up ( ploughing )your paddocks b4 seeding it ...
So the paddocks would be very loose soft and blow away very easily
Although the Paddocks can still get pretty Dusty in the dry , in these days of no tillage

Thanks Nick
I was interested in his comment because in the eastern states Zero Till and Minimum Till has been a game changer in many areas. I know nothing about WA practices but if they have moved on to something else I was interested to know what they were doing. Like where can they really go from here anyway. Of course if the greenies manage to get Glysophate banned before there is a viable alternative then we will all be in trouble.
Going back to old tillage practices certainly would not reduce dust for sure.
Cheers
Roy
