We 've had tracker turned on in my iphone since we left home a few months ago, but I had never looked at it until today.
I think my question is an 'old chestnut', am sure I have seen it before, but cannot find the info I want.
The route shown in Tracker is a dotted line, & although accurate re our current location, shows our route taken in straight lines between points, rather than along the roads we have driven.
Is there a setting I can change to get the tracking to follow our actual route?

Cuppa , if you're talking about in the Traveler app top left hand corner you need to enable it and you will also need to set up your settings as our recall you need to have it running in the background .
I'm sure others will give you a more definite response.
There is a few tutorials / podcast on the subject on the ExploreOz YouTube channel .
P.s straight lines are usually an indication of no satellite connection

Hi Nick, no not Traveller, Tracker.
I have Tracker enabled & it has been tracking me, but what I want to know is whether I can make it more accurately track my route, rather than straight lines between points. It is enabled all the time.

G’Day Cuppa
I only use the Tracker App to track others, never myself. Does your phone have a GPS ? And does it have full view of the sky?
Edit.
Check that location
services set to Always & Motion & Fitness enabled.
I reckon you may be better to disable Tracking in the Tracker App, then enable Tracking in Traveller, you could then view your tracking in Traveller directly, or still in the Tracking app if you wish. As a fall back there is always Export positions.
Flick me a MM if you would like some assistance.

Thanks Trevor, I do have Location
services enabled for both Tracker & Traveller. Phone is an iphone 16 pro max.
I'll have to have a read of the manual to understand the tracking possibility in Traveller & see if that works better.
I did look at the Tracker manual & it does show screenshots of tracking following roads. I'm wondering if the phone in the OKA's cabin, in areas with no phone signal, is not recording the route to upload when we get back into a signal area, & is only uploading a location when we actually have a signal.
I feel sure I have read of this 'straight line tracking issue' with EO Tracker before, & have a vague recollection of David or Michelle giving advice to rectify it???

iPhone 16 pro is a good phone.
It won’t track you out of phone service unless its GPS has a good clear view of the sky, it then uploads back to the server once back in service.
Both the Tracker and Traveller apps operate the same with regards to Tracking.
Sounds like your iPad is setup for your mapping, mounted to the dash with a clear view to the sky, which is why it may better for your tracking, your call of course.
In the mean time have a look at Export Positions on your iPad, type in your start & end dates, have a look at your journey, save it if you wish.

Cuppa,
Can't help you with Tracker, but I had the same problem a couple of years ago with Traveller.
Basically, the app loses location data when not active overnight. Michelle gave me a couple of setting changes that fixed my problem when I reported the straight line results at the time. Suggest lodging a support request.
