Hi,
I’m hoping someone on here has a bt50 around 2015 or so that has upgraded the head unit so they can also use ExplorOz mapping. If so what did you get as I’m past that point of understanding all this and if I go to a
shop they may very
well sell me something more than I need.
I was thinking of something like this
Kenwood DMX9720XDS for Mazda BT50 2012-2017 – Car Stereo Upgrade
It does steering wheel controls and up to 4 cameras
Thanks for any help
Geoff

That unit appears limited to CarPlay/Android Auto only and does not say it has access to the Google Playstore so you would also need to buy an Android Interface Adapter. This is explained on our
ExplorOz Traveller webpage. Id suggest you contact Smartworld - theres a link there. They are our partners for this solution - he will guide you to the best options. They are in
Sydney. You could spend $350 instead of $1600!

Thanks guys, I did read on your website about the ins and outs but I was still a bit lost so I’ll chip away at it and I’ll contact smartworld as
well.

I have a 2018 BT50. I purchased a head unit that did everything - music, radio, street and Hema navigation, rear
camera display, and 5 years later it blew a capacitor and had to throw the whole lot away.
I would recommend that you don't get an all in one solution and separate the various components. For example, just get a basic head unit to play music/radio/blue tooth to your phone and a usb input for stored music; use a tablet for off road navigation (ExplorOz) which allows a 12" screen (so much better than the 7" screen from a head unit), and then use your phone or dedicated GPS for turn by turn navigation. This setup provides a lot of flexibility - easy to update apps with latest software and maps, and if one bit breaks, the rest will keep on working.
You do need to plan your dash so that you can safely mount everything.

Thanks mate, I’d say your right I use an iPad at moment for mapping and it’s great the screen size so I might look into doing just the basic stuff as you said.
