We picked up our two Nissans today and I must admit that the dealer in Port Pirie looked after us very well. I had stipulated some repairs that had to be done to the GQ and they fixed them all including the grille rattle. We wanted a Cruise Control fitted to the X Trail and when the installer could not attend to the job the dealer drove the car to Adelaide and had it fitted.

Now comes the repacking of the GQ. I had only been home 20 minutes when the third row of seats came out. As this truck only has the 95 litre fuel tank I will be carrying and extra 6 jerries so have to build my storage area accordingly.

Must say it is a world away from the G60 and on the way home I took in some backroads and NO dust came in...LOL

Not buying any extras for the X Trail as it has enough gizmos. What I like about it is the rear cigarette plug for the fridge.

Neighbors will think you won Tattslotto.

"I took in some back roads and NO dust came in...LOL"

Turn the air con on and wind up the windows and even less dust comes in.

Turf the Jerry's and get a long range tank Willem.
It's only money and you have a big ship arriving regularly. LOL.

Good for you mate, you deserve a few nice things in life.

Willy I have a vision of you and Judith out back with the polishing cloth polishing the hell out of them so they keep that new look.
ROTFLMAO.

Also don't wear out the lectric windows and mirrors enjoying that switch.

Glad to see ya finally picked the GQ up. Its certainly going to take some time to fit the GQ out the same way the G60 was. But then, half the fun is customising the vehicle to make it suit your own individual taste. You certainly won't know yourself with all those luxuries like a/c, power mirrors, etc... but then why put up with the rough if you can have the smooth :-)

Cheers

Nice looking GQ you got there Willem. It must have been the colour, almost the same as the old G60 but looks more a professional job LOL.
Happy Trails mate.

Thanks Vinnie, Angelo and Captain. This is my first diesel since my MQ in 1980 so I will have to re learn all that I have forgotten about them but that shouldn't take long.

Congratulations to both of you. One of the girls that worked with us bought an X-Trail before she returned to South Australia and was very pleased with it but I think had trouble getting a bull bar to suit. I guess Judith won't need one of those with a GQ to lead the way. it looked very smart anyway.

Looking forward to meeting Ruby when she comes this way in a few short weeks Willie. I am sure we can take out some of the rubber surrounds so dust can get in mate. Have you fitted cruise control to the GQ yet?

Hi John

We will be coming down in the X Trail. At the moment SWMBO is ruling the roost and I am just doddering along behind...hahahahaha

Haven't fitted Cruise Control to the GQ but had it fitted to the X Trail

Wow Willem, how fantastic. think you need to hock Big Val and get a long range tank, don't like the idea of jerry in the back of the Nissan. Very exciting news. I'll get to see her soon. The madness has started already - four vans here, one has been here nearly two weeks and he didn't get the dates wrong. Ian and Selwyn busy welding the new bookies stands (15) at the as yet unfinished large shed!! (It'll be alright on the day, is the normal mantra). Painters are still here and the shop has turned a different colour - not too sure about it, I only got leftovers. LOL.
Don't scratch the paintwork now.

Hi Ruth...All go go go at your neck of the woods. Good luck with the races...hope you don't stress out too much.
I will be carefull with Ruby's paint work. I will have to bring jerries with me for the Simpson this time as there is not enough time to fit a LR tank. Too much happening. Looking forward to catching up again. Off to Beltana agin this morning for the last week there.

"nissan's come in pairs"
would have been cheaper by the dozen but

no dust, lectric windows and mirrors....looks like you'll be doing a lot of reading....confucious says...'when at first you cant work out how to make em go in/out or up/down etc etc read the instruction book'

the criuser has a cig lighter in the back also for fridge i suspect...but its really stupid cos it wont work if you turn the ignition off!!

Tip: how to work the airconditioning system when it gets too hot...... wind down the window, er windows.

enjoy willem!

Willem.

Sounds like a good dealer to drive that far to get the CControl fitted.

ALSO...

Don't build to carry so many Jerrys into the storage Unit.. If you fit a 2inch body lift, you can fit a 165ltr Long Range Tank. Or without Body Lift, you can fit a 145ltr Long Range Tank. That would allow you to USE the room inside the car!

Since there are only 2 of you travelling, another thing many do is remove the middle seats, fit cargo barrier behind drivers/passengers seat. This then allows you to fit the fridge in behind the passengers /Drivers seat, to come out of the SIDE door! Works really well too.

That also allows you maximum room at the rear for, draws, tents, chairs Bumper-dumpers the works.

It needs a snorkel, it looks naked ;)~

Welcome to the proud world of DUAL NISSAN OWNERS..

PS.
Go get yourself some spare fuel filters, they will pay for themselves.

Are you going to stick with the OEM (the better ones) filters or going to go foam? I got foam ones at home I'd sell, I dont like em, but might suit you more in the never never.

Also does it have the pre-cleaner box behind the headlight as I have ones for that too..

Willem,
if you are like me you are probably just siting in the new car, playing with all the gizmos, sucking in the ambience.
I'm with you on the jerries. There aren't too many stretches left between diesel bowsers where 95L won't get you.
Happy travels in it.

Willem I'm worried about you. It's not that you don't deserve to have the good toys in life, but this GQ stuff mate, it's a worry.
What with all the climate controled clean fresh air conditioned atmosphere, engine and road sound proofing, smooth suspension, push button this & push button that, superb sound system, electric doodads, soft seats, plush carpets - what's going to keep you awake ??
You'll be nodding off at the wheel.

Then again you might be arriving at your destinations ready to party instead of ready for bed.

Safe travelling old mate, and may the scratches be suffered as badges of honour.

Hope you have many happy, safe and trouble free kilometres.
We'll miss the sight (and colour) of your old bus. Cheers
