Due to problems locating this unit, I need to extend the microphone.

Locating the unit in the centre storage box, so the mic needs to sit separate off dash somewhere, therefore the extension required.

The plug & socket looks like a std phone cable setup.

Can anyone advise if it is a simple phone cable extension (from Dick Smith) or do I need a genuine GME extension. ($60!)

Thks in advance

If you take the mike to DSE, you can check on their male-female extension plugs to see if the wire flanges inside are the same pattern. If so, bingo. If they don't have the extension length you require, you can buy the cable, plug ends and a crimping tool to do the lot yourself (providing the wire flanges are the same in the loose plugs).

John,

If the connectors are standard modular telephone connectors I have the tool and connectors at my shop in Sandgate. It can be made as long as you want.
Give me a call on 3269 2699

I would think Dick Smith etc would have extension cables for less than $60.
Also call a few communications places, ask them about extending your current one.

A dude in sydney nissan club had radios in roof console, and had his mic come out of the dash, looked very professional, and also very handy! The whole job was under $80.00 for that, so, cant see getting yours extended would be a killer.
