If you live in sothern WA and or visiting do yourselves a favour and see the wildflowers-they are fantastic. We just got back from 3 days touring the southern Murchison. Morawa and Mullewa are the places to head for as the flowers are prolific around here. They start to peter out as you get closer to Murchison.
There is a good spread of the "wreath flowers" 10 - 20 ks out of Pinda ( just east of Mullewa) on the side of the Pinda to Yuin Station road.
You can see them in Pinda as well.
Go ASAP as they are at their best right now.
Fuel - both petrol & diesal around $1.20 per litre.

Peter- we are planning to go up that way within the next three weeks to have a look at the wildflowers , we will only be up there for a weekend - can I ask where did you stay, any recommendations?
We will be taking the camper and at this stage have not made any firm plans/enquiries about where we will go or stay
Thanks

Hi Alan
we camped 1 night in the national park just north of Watheroo after the turn off to the cave you keep going and turn left at the end where you see the crops/paddocks for a few ks and there is really good bush camping amoungst the wildflowers with plenty of shade and firewood.
The 2nd. night we camped in the Murchison Caravan Park which was only $5 per head and they have grassed sites and a new really flash toilet/bathroom block. Only problem at night is the noise from the diesals in the community power station! This is situated at the back of the park about half a k away.
Had we known about the noise before setting up camp we would have camped on the Irwin or Murchison Riverbanks. Plenty of good clean water, tons of fish and lots of great camping sites. The crossings are along the Mullewa- Murchison Road - gravel, but in very good condition.
There are great spots along the other minor roads that go to the stations too.
If I can be of any more help you are welcome to call me on A/H 9409 7414.

Just got back from 4 days in the Yalgoo area. There is a great patch of wild flowers about 15-20 km N of Wubin on the main highway.
we stayed at Muralgarra station overnight, great place great hosts- Judy & John.
Had Dinner and Breakfast at the homestead, you need a big appetite.
Yalgoo has an interesting history and worth a look around.
Turned back South along the Yalgoo-Morawa road. Gravel but excellent codition.
Lots of wildflowers along this road. Some interesting mining areas about halfway, deep open shafts left by the early gold diggers
Any more info needed, let me know

Cheers
George
