Banjo
Folks - I'm interested in visiting Kalamurina station on the
Warburton Creek (just off the
Birdsville Track -SA) for a couple of days as we cruise that region - they offer
camping and driving on the station for tourists - we are bush campers and like walking, fishing and a good sit round the fire at night etc - any feedback will be appreciated re experiences there. Thanks.

Camped there week before
easter this year as flood
water subsided, if you like it remote and sparton dry and dusty then you will like it.
Supposed to be the loneliest caravan
park in the world, but its just
bush camping on
warburton creek miles from anything including the
homestead. Enjoy.

Banjo. The
Warburton river is not unlike the
Cooper creek at
Innamincka with large permanent
water holes to
camp by. Out of the river you are in a cattle station on the edge of the
Simpson Desert so it's dry & remote. We found some nice
red cliffs, a hot artiesien
bore, plenty of bird life & a couple of sandy beaches but that's about it. (Nice spot away from the crowds) With permission there is over 80 KM of tracks that follow the river towards lake Ayre.
Cheers Craig...........

Banjo,
Was down at Mungeranie about a month ago, and while we didn't go into Kalamurina, did go into the
Warburton at one spot. It was still running then, about axle deep, crystal clear, a bit different to where we live further upstream.
Trip along
Birdsville Track was uneventful, but there were some magic amounts of
wildflowers about. Had to put a photo stop limit on one passenger, of one stop/100kms, otherwise we wouldn't have got to Mungeranie before dark. Not too sure how the w'flowers would be going a month later?
Magic bit of country down that way, really rapt in the
hill formations around
Mungeranie Gap.
Enjoy,
Hooroo...
