"oking to use it rafting the mighty Franklin river! "

Mmmmm...........

Whada'bout a message in a bottle.....LOL!!

I'm not really up to speed on sat phones, but don't they like not work real good if you're in a ravine, like the Franklin?

Actually, it will be good to see those that DO know, and see how good they really are say in Tassie on the river........

Oh..... can I come?

Lucky bugger!!

Cheers

you should be able to pick up a phone for around $100/week, maybe a little more if you are only using it for a week!

Iridium phones will work okay in a ravine, assuming that you still have a fair percentage of open sky, so if it is a ravine, covered by vegetation, with a closed canopy, it will be a different story.

Of the two types of handheld sat phones, Iridium requires a smaller 'window' of sky, to operate than the other one.
