Hi everyone, question? What the ..... can I do about the seats in my 80 series? Who ever designed them was out to lunch, I have a crocked back and I need to replace with something other than a $1200 Stratus! Any brilliant ideas would be much appreciated.

I got hold of a second hand KAB 303 truck
suspension seat, which I have been doing up (new shock absorber and
seat tensioner), and finally got an 80 series mounting bracket for it from KAB. Worked fine, but have just taken it out as the 80 Series will soon be for sale. Watch eBay - still needs a bit of work, but is almost there.

I agree with bikkies.
I went to wrecker in greenacre when I lived in
sydney, and got some full on recaro replicas for $300pr if I remember correctly.
They were Cloth Trim, but brilliant seats out of some
Grey Import car. they went into my rodeo ute.. Any wrecker that does
grey imports should be able to help u.
Keep your eye on Tradingpost/ebay etc. I got a pr of Paratus second hand for $200ish pr. :) the do need recovering though - $40
seat covers fixed that.

G'day Johnny
Depending on how far you want to go, you could always look at getting the seats re-covered and have them put in some extra padding while they're at it. I had the vinyl seats in my STD 100 Series recovered in cloth for $600 (front and rear including head rests) which beats the heck out of
seat covers! They're now much more comfortable and came up looking fantastic. I had a Hilux for about 6 years and often drove 1000 km's per week, the seats were shocking. I had a pump up lumbar added but was never happy with it, sometimes it moved within the
seat, but more importantly it never really fit my lower back at all - would have been about as usefull as jamming a wine cask up behind the
seat cover!
