Finding the
forum an absolute gold
mine of info for fitting out the Cruiser for the
BIG trip next year. Anyone had much experience with Dunlop Grandtrek AT2's. The
80 series which I have picked up has 5 new ones fitted, but the Trakmaster van
which I am having built has BFG AT;s as standard , could spec the van for
Dunlops or change the Cruiser to BFG's , Thoughts from the experts, touring
offroad for 6 months not bush bashing. Will be carring 3 spares.

Hi Michael...
Would it really matter if you had different tyres on the tow vehicle and trailer?
I had AT2s on a troopy and now have BFGs on my hilux. Both seem to be great tyres. Travelled 12000km over 5 weeks on AT2s (
Sydney to
Kalbarri last summer), very comfortable on and off road.
Keep what you have and spend the $$$ on the trip. HAVE FUN!

Logical to me as
well, but everything I read states dont mix brands
and as my spares are going to be one or another, some where down
the line there will be a mismatch when I have the inevitable puncture.Glad to here the Dunlops are OK, dont get much of a mention
on the
forum.

Michael, I have Grand trek standards on the front of my cruiser and AT2's on the back cos I couldn't get the same when I needed them. IMHO I think they are the worst tyres I have ever had. Ride and comfort ar fine but I've had no end of trouble with punctures. They've done about 20,000k's and They're about to get the flick. Side wall and tread ply rating are just too low.

Hi Michael
I had 5 AT2 on my hilux and only got 45000km out of them - rotated regularly not much offroad use and pressure checked weekly
Maybe a bad batch as a friend of
mine has done 60000km and they are still got adequate wear on them

Beaurepaire are claiming big things about the "SILICA" in the Dunlop AT2, which they say are top tyres, I am running BFG and have done 120,oooklms so I am looking hard at what people are saying as I cannot find any BFG's at present in the 275/70 r16 size.
There must be other good tyres.
