Fellow formites,
Does anyone In NSW (
SYDNEY preferably) know of a place that sells or custom makes LPG bottle holders to mount on a trailer. I just got back from Car-Van in Kogarah. They had some there but the ring was a bit bigger than my bottles (4kg)and thus would not lock them in tight.
Any suggestions...be polite :-)
Regards Angelo

Gday Angelo, don't know about custom bottles as you'd expect that they would come from a mould...
I have a mate with that problem and seeing your a cluey bloke, you've probably already though of buying rubber and cutting into strips and sticking to the rings. Stops scratching of the bottle etc.
Cheers
Chris.

Apologies for my lack of reading ability...Custom bottles, what a git!
As for the rings, go to your local
camping shop, they probably will be able to point you in the right direction.

cokeaddict,
go see brightweld at
kings park unit 8/12 garling road they are specialist aluminium fabricators & stainless fabricators and would have no problem custom fabricating for your needs. www.brightweld.com.au they did some new jerry can holders for me that i have had no problems with. They are actually in the same complex as TJM so you can compere between the two.
hope this helps

Hope they are better than the ones' on my new camper - made to fit a certain bottle of which I have 3 new ones (one supplied with the camper) and they are so bloody tight you can hardly get the cylinders in and out (with the clamp retaining bolts completely out, let alone lossened !!).

Car-Van in Kogarah - Great Place!
How about rapping some Rubber around them, say 1/4 thick, would save the paint and allow for tightening...?

Try Carasel on the Great Western Highway at Pendle
Hill. I got a couple there three years ago for not too much money.

Hi Angelo
Your not the only one whos had that problem the only way out was to cut and reweld the piece across the bottom and reshape the ring and drill new holes for the bolts. lts a wonder that theres that many 'engineers' out there no of them have come up with a design that will fit all the differant size 4kg bottles with some sort of quick release systm as
well and fit the 9kg tooooooo
Andy.

Andy,
you hit the nail on the head mate.
Seems to me that no one is interested in setting an International standard for Gas Bottles. If I have to do all what you suggested above, whats the point in paying the money. I can make one up myself for less than that. Only thing stopping me from doing that is time. Its not really that hard a thing to make. 1 size fits all, self locking setup.
Oh
well...I might just make 2 up myself when I finish my new project.
Thanks everyone for your input though.
regards Angelo

try Tuff Trailers in Penrith, they custom make trailers to any spec, then can supply ready made gas bottle holders or custom if required

Hi Eric,
No need to excuse yourself mate. You dont know the facts. I just bought 2 x 4kg bottles last week. As my old 5kg one was 20 years old and i dont want to test it anymore ($35.00 to have it tested). I went down to Car-Van with one of my new bottles to buy the frames. The frames they had were too big. They were even too big for the bottles they were selling. They only found out when i asked for assistance.
You have a great weekend anyways, and thanks again for reply
Angelo
