Just back from the big Central Australia trip, and I have lots of scuff marks on the inside (hard vinyl) surfaces of the LandCruiser. Most have been caused by the constant movement of mainly plastic items hard against the sides of the car interior etc. The grey finish has been abraded and the plastic beneath is showing through.
Does anyone have any restoration suggestions?
Bob
PS Hi RuthD in Birdsville- we enjoyed our stay down by the water with all the dawn pelicans and other birdlife. The only problem was it's a loooong way up to the loo!

If any kid of mine put his boots on the dash he wouldn't have any legs to walk on.
What ever happened to respect ??

Bob, are you talking about vinyl or the hard plastic surfaces on the panels in the cargo area? When i got my landcruiser it was an exgoverment vehicle and the iinterior was in fairly average shape. there were scuff marks around the glovebox area on the hard plastic where something was stored in the front area. I got a small gas torch and carefully "brushed" the flame accross the area. The marks have not completly dissapeared but with a rub of armourall they are hardly even noticable. You will need to be very careful if you want to try this, too much heat and it could be a disaster. Worked for me on the hard plastic.

thanks for the reply... I meant the hard plastic surfaces around the rear compartment, door sides, back of console etc
It loks like a coated surface.

It's an unforegiving world Bob, another of life's little lessons.
I've got a couple in the early days and learnt my lesson. Can't get rid of them entirely but I know what I have to do now. Gaffa tapes cheap.

G'Day Bob,
Do a search on "plastic wielding", see what you come up with. Down here in Sydney we had a franchised operator doing these sort of repairs to all makes of vehicles. He also did internal panel repairs of the type of damage you have. I actually witnessed a "before & after" on a late model crusier some time ago and was very impressed with the results. It was so badly damaged that it had cuts in the panels as well as extensive rub marks. There was no trace of any damage when he had finished. No idea of cost, as it was done in a mate car dealership.
Maybe worth a chase.
Regards,
Bazza.
