Bought two this morning, had to throw little children out the way getting to it, walking out the door at a rate of knots. Haven't had a chance to plug it in yet.

Couldn't wait so plugged it in this morning when I got home. Even read the instructions first. SWMBO is a bad influence!

Anyhow, with the ciggi lighter they recommend you don't draw more than 100 watts, good advice. Used the heavier cable and aligator clips on the second battery, turned it on, all good.

Looked around shed, what can I plug in. 750W drill, pulled trigger, started O.K. Ran at slow speed for about a minute. Went to draw more to see how fast it would go and overload protection cut in and shut the unit down. It has a 600W maximum draw and I had a 750W drill so no problems there.

Plugged in angle grinder, 650W. Started, ran for couple of seconds and shut down again, still no problem.

Finally plugged in 300W halogen flood light, started O.K. looked a bit yellow but brightened up quickly and stayed on for 10 mins with no probs. plugged light into 240V just to compare, couldn't tell the difference .

Overall happy as it has performed as expected so far. Happy I spent the $59

No Aldi stores near me so I got a mate in Sydney get 2 for me. He put me onto them in the first place and said that Aldi test there products before selling them so they sould be good.

Could anyone tell me if I could charge a laptop from one of these. Also what hard wiring would you need to do.

Hello Brad

I think you laptop (examples used is a Toshiba) draws 80watts, so it should charge it ok.It comes with a cigi plug adapter and an adapter with aligator clips. I am sure you could hard wire it in if you wanted to.
