Hi Eric,

My wife & I bought a Turbo Tent at the 4WD show in Sydney last April with the view of using it for a 7 week trip to Cape York (what better place to test it !) from Mid July to a couple of weeks ago. We had used a large dome tent previously but it was too slow. Initially we looked long and hard at a 30 sec OZTent but was put off by the package being too long & having to go on the roof.

The end result - we were extremely happy with the Turbo Tent (Ours is a 2.4m version). The first time used was the 1st night going to Cape York - we did not have any problems at all with the tent. Over the whole trip we erected it well over 30 times (& pulled down of course). It is very quick to erect - we had it down to about 5/7 minutes, including tie downs. To pack up - say 7/8 minutes (once we developed a technique to fold it up).

It went through some rough wind (eg at Captain Billy Landing was exposed to strong wind all day & night) with no problems at all.

We have already strongly recommended it to other people - with no hesitation.

We packed ours across the vehicle - behind the front seats - a good fit.

On our trip at the Cape we saw one Turbo at Seisia & 2 at Weipa. Spoke to the other owners & all were happy with the tent.

Trust this helps

Willy

Thanks willy.

I know this is going to sound dumb but do you have to put the fly up to be water proof.
As you said the wind factot at captian billys will test any thing. Especially you patiance.

Have you had it in heavy rain and how was it.

Many thanks
Eric

Eric,

No - the fly does not have to be up. Both the tent and the fly are made of the same material & is waterproof. In fact the fly does not cover the whole tent - just the top section and each corner as well as the front section which we found good to provide some protection.

No heavy rain as yet (only had a slight shower whilst up north) so the only comment re water was when we 'weathered" it before leaving home & when we put it up on returning home to clean it. On these occassions I used a good hose & no water entered.
