Did anyone see Thommo on his Fraser, Moreton, Straddie tour this morning?
I couldn't belive he drove his GQ Patrol towing his caravan through the waves at speed along
the beach for fun (not just shallow
water which would be bad enough but you could see small waves around him). What a looney. Doesn't do the 4wd cause much good. He even reversed his caravan into the surf so he could demonstrate his 'galvanised chassis' on the van. He said he could do this as much as he liked because his galvanised chassis would never rust. Give it time and how about everything else? Wheel bearings, brakes etc etc. How about the poor old GQ?
Stupidity aside, for those of you wanting to know about towing on Fraser and Moreton he towed an 'on-road' looking single axle pop-top van. He seemed to take it everywhere he went. Over rocks on an incoming tide and to
Central Station. Also went to Lake Mackenzie but don't know if he took the van there or not. He also towed it across Moreton but got bogged on a cutting getting off
the beach on (I think) the eastern side.
The tow vehicle was a GQ wagon with split rims and appeared to be diesel and looked pretty stock. With a tinny on the roof of the GQ. Van had standard looking skinny little road tyres too.
Hope this helps people who were asking about towing on Fraser etc the other day.

Forgot to say that he also thought the best way to clean your vehicle top to bottom was by going through one of those oil bays at either the Noosa Northshore pub or
Rainbow Beach. He reckoned that was all you needed to do. He even said the caravan didn't need washing as it would require closing all the hatches and it had a galvanised chassis anyway. I wonder if 'all the hatches' were closed when he blasted it through the salt
water numerous times? What a tool.

yeah saw it, currently laid up with a bad back :((
worse watching it because have had to cancel Fraser trip for next week!!!
Amazing what some free sponsorship does to your brains.
And why wouldn't they let him back it into the surf, thinking it may sell some caravans, then again I don't think Gazal (is it gazal?) are around anymore, the Kedron boys use to sell them.
Getting a bit!!! tired of Thommo!!... we need a new TV show specialising in 4wding,
camping etc, (not the Getaway/Weekender etc crap) .... with the growing interest in this country I think it will come.
It has to, to educate people, otherwise we will have
toilet paper blowing down the street of every outback town.
Probably in the works, I can just imagine ARB etc salivating at the thought.
IMHO anyway.
Ah
well back to my denco rub haze......

I did notice all the advertising about the van at the end of the show. Swinging off cuboards and hammering the ceiling. They also showed all the distributors in the credits so they must still be available (unless it is a repeat). However I think any customers would be disappointed if they thought it was indestructable and found it wasn't. So I guess at least he wasn't destroying his own van (unless he got a real good deal on it from promoting it). However I assume the old GQ was his. I wouldn't even dream of driving my own vehicle like that!
Maybe he traded it in when he got home ;-)
Fraser isn't going anywhere. I'm sure you will get other trips. I'll be there myself in December !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw thommo at a
camping ,fishing and 4x4 show doing a cooking demonstration . He was using bundy rum in his cooking but unfortunately i think he drank far more than he used in the cooking . I do enjoy watching caravaning with thommo though .

Apparnetly there is a 4WD show starting up on Briz 31 in about a weeks time. Don't know much about it yet but have got a few sponsors behind it so it might stay around for a bit on Briz31 at least?
have a look - 4WD TV
