Rigor
A bit of advice please , I have a 3.0 L TD Jackaroo , my problem is the cost of the genuine oil filters from GMH which is now nudging $50 . Everytime I service the vehicle the oil filter seems $5 dearer than the last time .Ryco market a substitute Z600 which on close inspection is not much more than a tin can to cover the holes in the block! seriously, run your finger around the innerthread (taking care not to cut yourself) and you will no doubt find a few stray iron filings from the maufacturing process. And REPCO charge $39 for this Korean Ryco. Can anybody help with an alternative filter that has quality at a reasonable price.
Cheers Dave L.

Try
Sydney Filters at.......
http://www.sydneyfilters.com.au/
I can't remember the brand they use, but i ordered a quantity of oil, air & fuel filters from them at a fraction of the OEM prices

Rigor,
Damo is right on the money with this one. Quality brands at hard to beat prices.
Glenos got the 4JX1 oil filter from
sydney filters for $13.90 last March.
Click here to see the prices he got.
Cheers,

I should have said Glenos got a quote, not sure that he actually bought them.

Hi Rigor, I too have a 3.0l TD Jack, I buy my filters from my local Peps store in Engadine, just brought the two filters.
Ryco Z79A and a filter made by/marketed by Wesfil which is a Z600 compatable filter.
I get a 20% discount and the prices are
Z79A 4$10.80 retail $13.50
Z600 $18.00 retail $22.50
I was just looking at the Ryco site and they suggest that the Z79A should be replaced every 20,000 k's which has p##sed me off because I was lead to believe that that was the one to be replaced every service.
Another thought worth considering, is I have heard that the re-oilerable air filters can cause trouble with the engine management system. I know on
mine that after using a Uni-filter my check engine light started coming on and I now do not use it.

Thanks guys for the advice , I have contacted
Sydney filters will purchase future filter needs through them. Interesting to note that Repco charge $39 for the Z600 I have found them to be dearer than most for just about everything.
Will , thanks for your feedback , I also had problems with the oilable air filter causing the TPS to fail and bring up the check engine . I checked the fault codes in my manual (still paying that off) and sure enough code pointed directly TPS . I got lucky when I had the injector seals replaced under the recall, when the dealer could not start the vehicle , checked the fault code and replaced ther complete throttle body at their expense . Personally I think they did not fill the high pressure oil manifold before attempting to start as you have to crank for about 10 minutes to get the oil back to the injectors , get lucky sometimes.
Back to the air filter I wonder if we tend to use too much filter oil which easily migrates through the system to the TPS ? I still run the finer filter and the problem has not returned yet but have not reoiled yet either! If Isuzu were serious a simple seal on the actuater shaft to stop the oil fouling the potentiiometer would eliiminate the problem permanantly.
Cheers Dave L
