I was having a look on ebay the other day and saw a new KEW8000 winch for sale for $675. Most 8000lb
winches seem to be around the $2000 mark. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with KEW products. They are made in China and there seems to be very little informaiton on the net about them.
I also saw 4 ton hand
winches for sale for about $50. Again these seem to retail for about $800 for an ARB item. Is an ARB item really going to be 16 times better than the el-cheapo?
Just trying to find the traps for
young players the cheap way. Any feedback will be appreciated. Yes I am aware fo the risks of ebay etc etc.
Stads.

Gday Stads
Grab a copy of 4x4 Australia September 2003 I think and they ran a comparison on several winchs. I liked the result on the Brawn. Good results for a good price. As a result I now have one bolted to my 80 series and I also distribute them in western
Sydney.
Try my site which has a link direct to Brawn for the technical details.

Gidday,There is a saying CAVEAT EMPTOR(BUYER BEWARE)You get what you pay for.If anything blows up you possibly wont be able to buy spares etc.It also boils down to Quality Control which dosnt exist in China.
Just my bit,

High mount warn is THE BEST winch there is - $2300.00 RETAIL, often had for $2000
I dont know where your shopping..
Warn 8000 LOW mount $1,440.00 NEW
Warn XD9000 Low mount $1,599.99 NEW
Warn HS9500 Low mount $1,999.87 NEW
Brawns 9000 is under $1600 NEW
9000 Premier is $1500 NEW
And a Warn 10,000 Low mount is $2000 NEW
Dont waste your money.. You will regret it when you try and get parts for it.
"Is an ARB item really going to be 16 times better than the el-cheapo?"

Brawns is a 9500lb and retails for $1450.00.
For just over $1600.00 you will get Brawns 10 000lb
Warn - Brawn - Ox - Premier I'll let you be the judge. I think only the price matters. All as good as one-another.
Stick with the better brands.

The KEW 8000 generally retails in shops that I have seen it for $1100 - $1200. From what I understand it is a chinese version of the Ramsey REP 8000.
