G'day everybody,
Just a quick note to let you know that our trip is going really
well. We've been to
Cape York and came back down to Musgrave, turned due west and went via a couple of aboriginal communities and down the east coast of the Gulf before arriving at
Karumba. Currently in
Normanton and finding out if we can go to
Lawn Hill.
Have had a few mechanical problems......all relating to aftermarket gear not being able to cope with the severe corrogations of the cape roads. My new $1100- PWR radiator cracked both it's bottom mounts and had to be rewelded. My local-made (Kadina) 3" exhaust system broke one of it's brackets and had to be welded up too.
Our mate in the Prado 2.7 petrol had to order in to new OME shockers to Seisa as the original equipment Toyota ones let go. He also had a failure of one of his Weaco fridges (the 80 litre unit). He also has a 50 litre one for a freezer and it is still going okay. He left us at Musgrave and went back to
Cairns to see if they could fix it. He phoned today and said they'd found it was a manufacturuing fault with excess solder in some of the copper piping...to be fixed under warranty.
And for all those sceptics (g'day Pesty.....LOLOL), you'll be saddened to hear that Pud's 3.0litre is going brilliantly....not a problem (touch wood).
Anyway, the rest of the family and Pud's family and waiting for me out in the heat so that we can get going, so I'd better
sign off.....
Cya all later......
Muddy, spoke to your uncle in
Weipa.....he tried to deny he'd knew you !!!! hahaha
Roachie

Hi Raochie,
Good to hear you're enjoying the trip. Getting a bit warn up that way already, isn't it. Did you do the OTL track or the Bypass (as is 'should be bypassed') Roads(?) ? Those Bypass Road corrugations are shockers, aren't they?
Lawn Hill will be a welcome
oasis atfer the rough dusty roads, a bit like a bigger version of
Twin Falls up the Cape, which I'm sure you enjoyed.
Thanks for the update.

Well Bill, you've outlined some of the things that have gone wrong, but I am assuming the Ultimate is faring quite
well?
Some associates of
mine have just returned, and they also, talk about the bad corrugations.
Have a safe remainder of your trip.
Cheers
Wolfie

Bill,
Good to hear that the 3.0L is going okay, that should stick it to some of the mockers.
Having said that, you still have a way to go yet!!!!
Geoff.

I think the only hassle was the amount of time his car was off the road.

You will probably be reading this in your emails after you get home but have a good and safe trip back!
Wish I could have been there - but my turn will come!
As for my Uncle denying all knowledge - what can you expect from family!
Cheers
