I'm looking at an offroad camper trailer built by Modern Trailers
Has anyone had any experience with these trailers?
I realise they have no kitchen,
water storage or offroad coupling (which I will buy seperately) and second hand rims (I'm supplying my own anyway). But for $4,800 brand new they look pretty good. Am I missing something?
I know I will probably get the "you get what you pay for" but my budget doesn't stretch to the 10-20K upwards trailers and I'm not too fussed about the fancy bits.
I'm also keeping my eye on the second hand market in case something pops up.
Also what is a Treg style setup worth?
Thanks
Brad

Hi spook,
Many of our club members (YP4WD club), use Spirit campers made at Pt Clinton and they are very
well made and good value for money, give them a call on 8837 7007 or www.spiritcamper.com.au
or i found this site
http://www.users.bigpond.com/pekay/spirit.htm
My experience with modern is you do only get what you pay for.

Thanks Pesty
These CT's look like exceptional value for money. I was looking for one that the bed lifted up to access gear but i thought I would have to pay through the nose.
I must say I wasn't very impressed with the service I received from Modern Trailers when I rang them (the salesman couldn't wait to get me off the phone).
Thanks again for taking the time to get that info for me.

Hi Spook,
We paid $4800 for our camper and then added all the bits.
WaterTank
Kitchen
Extra jerry can holders
power pack
tool box
breaks
and so on.
The all up price is now
well over $8000, and thats doing the work myself. I know what it's like trying to work to a budget, but if you can try to get the extras now, as it is cheaper in the long run.
The up side ios that it has given me hours after hours of "FUN" playing after work with the toy, as my wife calls the camper.

Hi Spook,
Also look at
Tambo camper trailers. I have just ordered one where the bed lifts up on gas struts and a few extras for just over $7000. Their details can be accessed on their website.
They do give a discount for EO members and I highly recommend them, having a link on my site 4wdadventureoz

Hi Brad
I have a 1994 6x4 x? Modern Trailer Heavy Duty Offroad type. It has slipper springs and 16inch Toyota Hilux split rim
wheels. The original owner converted it to a motorbike carrier and it was extended at the front and a galvanised cover plus lifting door at the rear fitted. The next owner used it twice and it sat in his yard for 6 years. I fitted a Treg Coupling. Bought it direct from the factory and it cost me $176 in 2002. I had the trailer connection(Treg) welded to the trailer frame for an extra $50. It tows
well, is very sturdy, built like a
tank and follows the Patrol anywhere I could take it.

There was a place at caravan show selling them for $2800 camper trailers... even if it sucked, you could change the stickers on it, and sell it to some putz for $9000....
Go with a
Southern Cross Single pole tent, you cant go past them for $1000.00
