Just been told by a friend at AAMI that there is a new simple way of stealing cars doing the rounds in Sydney.
You return to your car, get in start the engine and look in the rear view mirror and see a piece of paper or cardboard on your back window obstructing your view. You get out of your car to remove it and the thief jumps from nowhere into your running car & drives off. The methods of defeating this are obvious if you are aware that thieves are using this trick...

If that's fairdinkum then you have to admit it's rather simple and clever. I can't imagine how I would feel if it happened to me. If only theses low lifes could use their ideas for good.

I don't mean to point out the obvious here folks.

However isn't it possible that some car thief heard about this and thought "sounds good, might give that a go!"

I'm not saying that it is happening a lot but perhaps occaisionally.

It started out as an urban legend, but unfortunately I know someone who lost her Mercedes C180 that way.

Problem is that these urban legends get out, and then some low life actually does try it and gets away with it.
