Barges from Inskip or Hervey Bay?
Allow 1 3/4 hours to get to the
Noosa River ferry. Then the trip to Inskip along
the beach would depend on tides etc. Plenty of
places to stop along here to go swimming or sightseeing. If you want ASAP then go via Gympie along the road and you have no tides to worry about.
I'd allow a day to do the trip from
Brisbane to Fraser via Inskip along
the beach. Can be done much quicker but what's the fun in that?

Hi Brad
"is there any major attractions between
Brisbane and Fraser"
Well, there's only all of the sunshine coastlink text
and then all of the cooloola region
So depends what you mean by attarctions.
There's only about 100km of pristine beaches, plenty of fishing spots, theme parks and zoos, glasshouse mountain, 4wd areas, some nice little towns, bushwalking and kayaking spots, cinemas, restaurants, wineries etc.
So take your time and enjoy,
R.

The quickest way to Fraser is direct to Inskip via the Bruce Highway to Gympie and then out to
Rainbow beach and Inskip. About a three hour drive (200km to Gympie and about 80 to
Rainbow) Barge takes about 15 minutesto
Hook Point.
The other way is continue on through Gympie to
Maryborough, (about 300km) then in to Hervey Bay to get the barge from River Heads. Allow about 4 hours this way. The barge takes about 45 minutes to the Kingfisher Resort.
Enjoy your trip.

Attractions Galore...
"CRIKEY" you could go and see the crocs at Australia Zoo and the new tiger cubs they have, there's go carts, Big Pineapple is still going...just, and of course the
tourist drive along the
bunya mountains. If you work your tides right, go via Noosa/
Tewantin Barge, the trip is a little shorter and much more enjoyable, plus your in 4wd alot quicker as
well! Around $5 for the barge last time I went.
Cheers
Chris.

I assume you mean the ferry?
$4.50 for my Rodeo but $7 for the F250. Funny but my mates Jimny didn't get charged $3 since it is smaller again.
Was $35 one way or $60 return on the Inskip Barge in January. Not sure which operator it was.

I agree with MrBitchi. It took us about 3 hours from Eagle Farm to
Rainbow Beach, with a bit of a stop at Gympie.
Fuel tip if you take diesel, at Kybong (a few kms before Gympie) there is a Matilda servo and
information centre. Out the back is a Shell truckstop that was selling diesel at about 99c/L. About 5c/L cheaper than elsewhere in at the time and about 10c cheaper than in NSW.
You'd probably want to top up at
Rainbow Beach before hitting Fraser anyway - cheaper than the $1.40+ on Fraser.

Scenario 1 . Depends on tides . Example of my last trip . High tide was 11.30 am so i left
brisbane at 11.30 am . Travelled up the bruce highway and stopped at ettamogah pub . Then we travelled to
tewantin via the sunshine coast motorway and then onto the
tewantin barge . Headed up
the beach to
cherry venture where we bought soft drinks and ice creams from the tucker truck at
cherry venture . Crossed over the dunes via track and headed to
rainbow beach . Reached
rainbow beach at about 4pm which was about dead low tide . This gave us an hour to get to the inskip barge to fraser . Arrived at barge at about 4.30pm and got to fraser about 5pm .
Scenario 2 . high tide was 8.30am in
brisbane so i left at 8.30am .

Sorry , Scenario 2 should have read high tide was 8.30am at
waddy point(fraser island) . not
brisbane . via the tide predictions internet site .Therefore if high tide is at 8.30am at
waddy point then leave
brisbane at same time . I find this the easiest . clear as mud , i think .
