Hi all, first time here, I'm looking at purchasing an entire body kit for my nissan patrol as its looking a bit sad. T
he all metal kit will make the vehicle look just like a hummer waggon.
Will look great. I want to signwrite it for my small business. Thought having a different style of vehicle might make people read the signwork.
The problem is insurance.
Does any one know of a company who would insure a modified 4wd? help! help!

Thanx Truckster, I tried Shannons yesterday but they said that they don't insure 4wds. Really getting worried that insurance will put a spanner in the works.

You could try TCIS - www.tcis.com.au. They specilise in 4 WD. What sate do you live in. In WA I have heard good reports for Western QBE.

Hope this helps.

2 things.....

Try Just Car Insurance. They insure our grey import Delica.

The Hummer kit. Check out the weight. They use 1.2 mm. Zincanneal Sheets for the panels.... very heavy.

Cheers

How much will the completed unit cost if I build it myself:
A basic conversion can be achieved for under $25,000.00 if using an MQ donor vehicle or under $35,000.00 if using the later GQ series wagons.

You have to be joking? $25k MQ?

evolvn,, I looked at these when they first came out . There actually called a hammer not a hummer . There around 170 mm narower than a hummer and can be noticed by only 6 glills instead of the Hummers 7 . You can get a kit from around 15 to 16 k + GST , then you need alot of bit to make it look right . I spent many hours on this and couldnt get a final registered cost under 25 to 30 k . Now why on earth would you do that , when the real maccoy is around 45 k . You can get a second hand H2 in the states for 15 k US .

Have you had a close look . There like a old tart in a mini skirt and blond hair . They look good from a distance when when you get close and they turn around lol

Hi Groove,

yeah I know what your sayin'. The thing is I've got a small business and I was looking for an unusual vehicle to sign write that people would notice.
I came across a real one going out on a Sydney expressway a few weeks ago, and cars were actually jockying around to get closer so they could get a better look at it.

It looked really impressive, with massive massive wheels and a nasty elephant bar and enough lighting stuff screwed on it to cook a roo at 800mtrs.
Criusing at 130Kms there were whole flocks of aerials curving back at almost seductive angles. Spare tanks and other deep bush paraphernalia adorned the rear of the creature and visible through the drivers window (OK so I jockyed) a giant wide screen GPS lurked on the F18-like huge centre console along with a vast assortment of mysterious dials, radios, thing-a-me's, missile launch controls and whatsits. The pert blonde driving it noticed us matching her speed and looked across the void between the two speeding vehiicles. The crouching behemoth and the GQ 89' Nissan. I knew in that moment, frozen in time, that I wanted to have her babies. She smiled. It was an easy, good humoured smile, it flowed almost lazily across her face and I'll never forget the vision of her stunningly gorgeous features framed within the eye of the beast. She made a slight gesture with her hand across her lips and I smiled back, I returned a smile of admiration and ....oops, OK so she noticed I had dribbled---no big deal,right--it was just a bit, not like a bucket full or anything. Suddenly......... oh god she had bought the turbo. Even insulated by all that Nissan rust, we could hear that baby wind up. As it grew smaller in the distance, the last thing I noticed was a sign on the back of the thing stating MOMMY WAS A JEEP, DADDY WAS A TANK! Bugger-- I just want one.

There was a genuine one that lived in Cronulla area, black, used to see him trying to navigate the narrow back streets, not sure if it was poor vis out of the seat, but even driving down the kingsway it never stayed in 1 lane.
I can think of 20 better cars for the money than $30k MQ.

And as eric says, the Hammers look like chit compared to the real thing. How did ya go with the genuine one Eric? Missed it or?
