Passed a Landie today (Defender 110)with German rego plates on it. Looking at the stickers on the side he'd driven down through Africa to S Africa, across to
Perth up the West Coast through
kakadu to
Cape York, down Qld to Fraser, along the Gt Ocean Rd and into
Adelaide. Managed to say a quick hello to the two guys at the lights. That's a hell of a long journey.

He's done
well. I've been to a few odd
places but I'd think twice about central Africa at this time.

As they say from date of release, 9 out of 10 landys are still on the road today...
the other one made it home.

That wasn't the guy who was on here recently, asking about a very similar schedule? He was going to bring a German Landy to
Perth and then go up north...

They might have been the same ones we saw up
Cape York last September, I think it eas a yellow/green colour with a map on the back or side, If it was they were with a pommy couple in another landie.
They were pretty
well set up with solar panels etc.

The route UK to Cape Town is like a bus lane- they're back and forward all the time- and there'e plenty of people shipping vehicles from here and there and doing trips in various parts of the world- website AfricaOverland has some great trips on it- they almost all seem to be Defenders (easy to buy in UK I guess) and Troopys- plus a few bikes- wish I was on the trip...
