8 days ago I attended the 4WD show in Adelaide.

While I was there, I visited the EvaKool stand and enquired about how to go about a fix for a broken latch on my EvaKool Icebox. . The broken latch was caused by our “rough” treatment on our recent Desert Fling, not by any malfunction of the latch itself.

The chap on the stand took my name and address and said “leave it with us and we’ll see what we can do.

Today in the mail I received an envelope from EvaKool in Queensland, containing a complete latch assembly and the pop rivets to re-attach it to the Icebox. Included, was a slip of paper stating “with complements from EvaKool”.

Now I call that pretty exemplary service.
This is the sort of company that is a pleasure to deal with and deserves my promotion.

Thanks EvaKool.
Bill

2 things that make me really happy about this post.

1. Excellent serivce, fantastic to see it. Good on you Evakool!
2. Sombody taking the time to right about good service and give credit where it is due instead of just bitching and whining about crappy service (which we all do and is probally good so that we all know what and who to be mindful of). It's always easy to complain about bad service, but it's great to see positive feedback too!

Can I please have the broken latch, and rivets please?

I'm gonna send them to Eva Cool, and tell them that this is all that's left of my Icebox, hopefully they'll send down another.........

Cheers

Sandman,

Great to hear about good service. Too often today we find ourselves subject to the consequence of being a commodity (price) driven environment. Good service is hard to come by so Evakool deserve a plug.

On a different topic, I'm keen to hear what you think of your Evakool. I have an Engel and a Waeco and they both have their good and bad points. The Evakool interests me because of its fibreglass contruction. I have an Evakool esky and it is just superb and I expect they would make an excellent fridge/freezer. My expectation is that the white fibreglass casing would build-up and hold much less heat than my dark grey steel engel or plastic waeco. This would make the fridge much more efficient. Would you concurr? I also think the insulation properties would be better.

Are they suitable for a marine environment? ie Do they use any mild steel or are the mechanicals stainless, aluminium & copper? What sort of battery/power efficiency do you get?

Does your fridge have the integral compressor or is it mounted externally? And what size is it?

Any info you can share will be appreciated.

Thanks

Andrew

Andrew,

Can't comment about the refrigerated EvaKool unit mate.

Like yours, mine is an Icebox (esky)

Also have an Engel fridge which is great. No problems with this whatsoever.

I have (had?) a 60L EvaCool and it is a lemon - has not worked properly since I bought it 6 years ago. But the company is great for support! Helpful and friendly - sent me free fuse holder and fuses, looked at it under warranty , etc. Turns out the early compressors were crap and they now offer new Daffoss based models. Mine is now a great Esky.
