Thanks to all who had input about the dual-fuel stove saga. As a result of the many comments I have decided to drop not-so-subtle hints to SWMBO about what I would really love for Christmas.......

I have decided the Coleman 3-burner DF stove will be the choice of champions (along with the Northstar? light come my birthday in early January).

Mother has thrown the ball back in my court , asking where she can buy the goodies. I have tried to do the right thing by searching in ' Trader ' and ' Business Search ' but without success.

Is it ethical for anyone to suggest where I might buy these products at a reasonable price? All monies saved can be better put towards buying SWMBO a better Chrissy present (such as something for the truck)........

I would prefer to make my purchase from a sponsor of ExplorOz but no details were forthcoming during my searches.

Thanks,

Haldo

Haldo,

Most Camping/Outdoor stores should be able to give you a competitive price.

Rays have them at 25% off every now and then. In fact in Adelaide in the last couple of months every Coleman product was 50% off - and guess what was there, only I didn't need one! Not demo stock either, probably floor stock, but i've seen it a couple of times this year.

I have had a LPG Coleman 2 burner for some years now. Its the best stove I have tried and, apart from the poor finish, it will simmer or go full on even in a strong wind unlike most other LPG offerings.
BUT come time to get spares when I was in QLD recently I found most stores
which sold them did not have any (lead & regulator) & said that it would be about
$80-90 to get one. Thats about what I paid for the stove!!!
Found a store in Cairns (Geo Pickers) who had one for $57 but they offered to
swap my hose & regulator for one they had fixed for $10 & I jumped at the chance.
Most obliging service,
The problem was/is that they have a tiny filter in the regulator which blocks up & the removal of that solves the problem.
When mine blocked initially I obtained a temporary fix by tipping it on its side & shaking it & running it in that position. Compressed air did not help.
FNQ & probably the DEEP SOUTH does have some rip off merchants but there
are also some helpfull people around to restore our faith in the race!
