Just returned from a quick trip to Mt William NP and surrounding areas.Very nice spot with heaps of good camping spots.
We spent the first night near Croppies point(on Homestead Rd) which has lots of sheltered camping, metres from the beach.Next day we travelled up to Musselroe Bay then into Mt William NP.Top Camp on the East coast is well sheltered from the wind, very close to the beach but not ideal for kids swimming(deep drop off and big swell). While heading back from Top camp, take the Forester Kangaroo Drive(F.K.D) through the park and see the largest concentration of Forester Kangaroos in Tassie.Half-way round the drive branch off and head to Camp Grounds 1-4.No.1 gets pretty crowded but looks the best.No.2 was a dark and dingy camp with not a soul there,No.3 is the only camp you can use Generators in and No.4 is pretty small but is located next to a day use area with free Gas barbies.
If they dont suit head back to the F.K.D and continue on around it.
There's more camping sites down near Eddystone Pt Light House(most Easterly point in Tassie) but we didnt get to check them out(Deep Creek Camp). Please note that you have to pay to get into the NP and that allows you to camp in the designated spots listed above.
Our next night was at Policemans Point below Ansons Bay.There are heaps of sheltered camp spots here and a nice bay for the kids to swim in.
To get a map of all these areas log onto www.parks.tas.gov.au/natparks/mtwilliam/mwillmap.gif.Park fee's and info is here to.So if your down in Tassie this summer check them out.I also have GPS waypoints for most camps listed, give us a yell if you need any more info. Nick

We'll be in Tassie December / January. Do you know how busy these areas are at that time of year?

Up around Croppies point it gets pretty popular at that time but there are heaps and heaps of camping areas so you should be able to find a quite spot.In the NP I've been told that its packed in all the good camping spots but havent been there at the time to confirm.
If you've got a map that shows Homestead Rd heading into Croppies Pt, about half way between Bridport and Tomahawk, the road branches out near the coast with tracks going in all directions to camp sites, most with the beach metres away.
Policemans Pt also gets very busy but there is about 1/2km of beach frontage with camp sites all along it.
Cheers Nick
