I lost a wheel nut for the alloy rims somewhere and after making enquiries at my local tyre bloke he came back that this is a genuine Nissan part only. So today I was in Port Augusta and went to the Nissan dealer. I had 10 bucks max in my mind. Had paid $1 each for the wheel nuts for the steel rims I bought recently.

"I gave you trade discount" said the sales bloke. " $14.85 Please"

Geez..................!

Sucks doesn't it.
Try buying a standard Rodeo TF wheel nut and stud from Holden. Over 20 bucks.
Put a genuine Subaru timing belt on a turbo forrester last week. Timing belt $230.00.
Power steering o ring kit for 80 series diesel. Trade cost $51.00 for half a dozen o rings and 2 copper washers.
Welcome to modern day motoring.

Willem,

Don't feel bad....I recently had removed the 13 platsic clips holding the drivers side innner wheel guard on and 13 were brittle and broke. I went to get 13 more and was priced $6.90 per clip......before I could shout at the Toyota parts guys he suggested I use the aftermarket ones he sells for $1.10 each. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to parts pricing.

If yours were for a LC100 they were cheap, I was quoted $8.90 each with no offer of after market ones and I need 12 of them!!!!!

A friend of mine sent his wife and daughter off last friday night from Sydney down the hume hwy towards Yass, in his new Porche Ceyenne. They hit something on the hwy near Goulbourn and slashed the sidewall of the $700 19" tyre (not repairable). A truckie stopped to help them do the deed, only to find that there was no attachment to fit the security nut on the wheel, therefore, wheel could not be removed. Phoned porche assist who had to arrange a flat top truck to take them to Canberra where the following day the dealership found that in their pre delivery detail they forgot to put the security nut back in the vehicle, OOOPPPPSS!!
Now that sounds like an expensive wheel nut, not to mention the tyre!!
I told my mate he should have bought a Landcruiser..

Hi Willem ,
Just to stem the tears - was in Alice mid year with a mate who had thrown a mag wheel nut off his Laredo , $ 23.00 and none in stock so slipped around to the nut & bolt shop , 0.65c for 1/2" UNF steely to keep us going . Size seemed a bit strange as this model is built in Austria . Roachie would surely help with a donation to keep the Troll mobile!!!
Cheers John

Does seem rediculous when you can go to Super Cheap auto and buy an angle (angel?) grinder for $15. I bought a high pressure water cleaner for $70, whole GMC generator for under $100 - how can a nut like you(rs) be worth $15

Don't ever lose your Nissan keys - when we bought our Nissan last year (ex Govt) ithad only one key - so we ordered 3 more (we tend to "misplace" keys) - around $130 each! I had budgetted on around $12.

Well dont loose the keys to your 2002 T/D Jack.... $400 each programmed. The blank cost $80...cutinng, programming & GST the rest. Had an acrimonious disccusion about the fact that as a TPI Veteran I dont pay GST.. gave me a reciept to get a refund from ATO who said that I should include it in my tax return...Hmmmmmmmm ok I think I got it back... so it would be $360 GST exempt...

Best one I know of is Dad busted a headlight on his XJ Jeep Cherokee. He`s thinking ok a simple square headlight shouldn`t cost too much.Chrysler dealer quotes him $900 and after they peel him off the floor they tell him Narva make the exact same thing for $40 and apart from where the Chrysler pentastar is replaced with the Narva name on the casing there`s no difference.
