Hi guy's,

away at the weekend for a quick 1 nighter to test out the new toy, rained cats and dogs... Only 1 leak, lock on the toolbox. 3 other Tambo's at the van park and all three of the toolbox locks leaked. A thin film of silastic between the seal and the lid and also between the seal and the lock body fixed the problem.

Hi Blue...keep these Blue's Clues coming. Mine also leaks when constant rain via the lock...but not anywhere else. I will be using selastic to fix when I get the chance.

Cheers

Glenn,

How was the weekend at Romsey?

Sad that we couldn't make it.

Camper was great I assume?

Cheers,

Jim.

Hi Jimbo,

You missed a great night camped around the fire in Mr and Mrs Al's backyard. Weather was a bit wet when I arrived, and a few drops in the late afternoon, but otherwise it was fine.

The Tambo was magnificent. I fully set it up and it looked good and slept well. Practiced the reversing this afternoon and was able to put it to practice when I got home. Can't wait to get it in the rough stuff and see how it travels.

Cheers

Blue and Glenn,

Any other comments about the Tambo regarding your first impressions?

Rob.

Hi Rob,
all seemed OK, had no probs setting it up. I got the extra bedroom, found it difficult to get enough tension in the roof and water tended to pool at the lower edge, didn't seep through though. It rained for 7hours straight friday night and most of it was horizontal and aiming at the zip where the bedroom joins, small amount of water got in, no more than half a cup( in my opinion not worth a mention in the original post)... Not often you get conditions like that though so I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. I found out yesterday that not all their trailers are made exactly the same. One guy's jerry cans wouldn't fit in the jerry holders but fit perfectly in mine... The platforms on his which form the base for the jerry and gas bottle holders were welded in about 1.5 inches higher than mine... If you're planning on ordering one, it may pay to measure your jerries and let them know how much clearance you need. Also be careful of the seal between the bed base and the trailer, very soft and easy to damage although available at Clark Rubber for a couple of bucks a metre if you do wreck it. I seam sealed pretty much every join I could find with either Butyl Mastic(Selleys) or silastic and tidied up a few spots on the undercarriage where the trailer manufacturer was a bit light on with the paint. Just my best effort to eliminate places where dust and water could sit and start the rust process. Can't think of anything else at the moment, will keep you posted as I discover more.

Hi Rob,

Having had the camper set up in the backyard last week and getting a thorough weathering, I had no leakage this weekend. The camper set up and was dismantled fairly easily, with another adult helping me. With a little more practice it will be a piece of cake. I will have to figure out an easy way to set up when it is just myself and my son as he wont be able to help much. About the only issues I have had is the leaking on the lock seal of the tool box, and the amount of air in the tyres....one was 56 psi. It travelled well and was very comfortable to sleep in. The awning was utilised when the rain came and 5 adults sat underneath with room to spare. As the canvas is constructed to be a little larger than required to provide for shrinking with age, it was a bit loose in spots, but caused no problems. The quality of the build is great and I didnt have paint issues as Blue did, also my jerries fit perfectly.

All in all, a great product and I am looking forward to further adventures with it.

Cheers

No ,

The Tambo is a river in Gippsland which hosts the Swan Reach Pub that serves the best $10 steaks bar none.

Great for a weekend in a cruiser, boat that is, not a car.

Much as I love a weekend in the bush, there is nothing quite like a few days away on a hired houseboat on the Gippsland Lakes or even better the Hawkesbury River.

Sorry to get off track.

Cheers,

Jim.
