Hello all,
I am interested in getting a touring tent, had my mind pretty
well set on a
Southern Cross, but came across a Serengeti Safari Bow tent. Its specification and reputation are very impressive, but I am a little concerned about the setup and teardown times - particulary for overnight stays. Has anyone had any practical experience with these tents?
All comments appreciated.
Cheers,
Jezza.

Hi Jezza
Our first hand experience is we had one - sold it and bought a
Southern Cross centre pole tent.
The Serengeti product is of a very high quality, but so is
Southern Cross and it is less expensive, designed and made in Australia. If you are going to put a tent up and down every day, stick with your original choice.
Regards

I should add that the
Southern Cross is easily put up by one person, the Seregenti less so.

havent got any experience with serengeti but depending on which
southern cross u wanted u may want to look at oztrail tents(available from
camping world in melb) which are similar to
southern cross 9X9 or another version( i call it a pregnant tent ) both around $300 or less compared to $1000 approx
let us know if u want any more info

If you looking at an SC , and decide that its right for you and in your price range . . . I personally wouldn't be looking elsewhere. The Touring Co's use em for a reason.

Hi. We have had a Serengeti Safari Bow tent for a few years and they are excellent. While it may be a little more trouble to set up for a 1-night stay than some others it is very worthwhile when you stay for more than one night. We take about 15 minutes for set-up and about the same to pack. We also find the packed tent a more friendly shape for placing in the vehicle than the large flat shape of some other Tents. Cheers, Rod.

Hi Jezza....
I have a Serengeti which I use if unable to take the van. Takes us about 10 minutes to erect and dismantle. Very robust and will certinally last a lifetime.

eerfree,
Do a search on
southern cross tents using something like
altavista
This will return you with several hits including the
Southern Cross Company themselves. Don't know what State you are in so cannot be more specific Mate.
