As a follow up to my post 17210, I had the Jack in for an 80,000km service yesterday and diagnosis of the CHECK ENGINE light indication.

The fault turned out to be due to a loose connector to the Map Sensor, located under the coolant reservoir.
Well fancy me not checking there. Duh!

It’s getting to the stage where everybody is going to need a TEK2 diagnostic unit in their tool kit.
(Now if only they come down in price a little.)

Thanks all for your input. Put this little gem in your archives.
Bill

So it was a loose connector after all. Sweet. Best thing is the vehicle kept running ok , damn good computer in these jiggers.

I was reading an article the other day where they were singing the praises of fords new whiz bang boss v8 and ecu. Raving on about how it has a 'new' setup where it uses ion sensing on the spark plugs to monitor the cylinders etc.. Well bugger me - my 98 model 'commercial' vehicle has that, plus coil on plug etc etc. Jackaroos - ahead of their time !! hehehe..

Good to hear all is well with her...

The coil-over-plug AC Delco ecu has been using ion sensing since, I dunno ... last millenium, maybe.

Yeah takes em a little while to catch up out at cambellfield..... While we're at it, i also heard ford tooting their own horn about how they researched the market to come up with the 'ulitmate rec. vehicle' the territory, and how good it was to have them in 2wd versions for the masses... hey Jeep had a 2wd only cherokee for the us masses about 10 years ago.. Next thing you know holden will be making commodores with shiza IRS designs taken from the volksy beetle, whats that ?? its been done !!!!!

Damn i'm bored...

mmmm now there's an idea..."Put this little gem in your archives"

start a new web site with what if's and what to check to pinpoint posible faults on our 4bies.....sort of an online diagnostic manual for popular makes? ....could even have flow charts?

dont pinch my idea David!
