Hi People,

I put a thread in a few weeks back asking if anyone new what the model numbers were for Rancho Shocks for a 2003 Mazda Bravo T/D, no one could let me know which is fair enough. I then emailed and faxed 7 businesses around OZ who sell Rancho's asking them for the model numbers and was amazed none of them would give them to me.

I can purchase the shocks at wholesale through a relation if I can get the model numbers and it seems all these retail outlets are to worried about loosing a sale to help anyone out. I own a small business in Computer Retail Industry and if had a customer ask me would a such and such printer work on their new PC and I didn't give them the information hoping they would buy new, firstly I wouldn't be able to sleep soundly at night and secondly I know that living in a small area like the Riverland S.A. word would get around and my sales would suffer, as will Ranchos with me because of this, I will put OME's or something else on and not buy from any of these unhelpfull retailers in the future as they are to worried about todays dollarand not the long term sales that a little assistance could get them. They all seem to have forgotten about word of mouth and what better advertising is there than to have someone telling friends and club mates that a 4X4 retailer had been of great assistance. When I started in business I worked then and still do by the rule: A happy customer may tell someone else, a unhappy customer will tell lots of people.

Just some food for thought.

glenn as you said you emailed or faxed 7 companys if 7 replyed would you tell all freinds etc about those 7 companys give names and phone numbers.

If you can buy the shocks from a relation he should be able to get the info.

All the best
Eric

Hi Eric,

I guess my only answer to whether I would tell anybody of good service would be to point out that I just purchased TyreAlerts from a major Diesel business and was showing them to a couple of mates yesterday and telling them what good service Andrew gave me and one of my mates is now contacting them about a Tunit chip for his Nissan. I must point out that quite a few companys don't allow their businesses to be mentioned in this forum and I respect that.

If you don't have access to a book that includes Mazda Bravo, or Ford Courier then you can't look up the model numbers and only people who have already fitted the parts would now the part#.

I guess by the feed back most people believe customer service should still be high priority.

Regards Glenn

Glen P,
it would seem that they havent forgotten about a little assistance, and what comes of it, more like you have not anticipated the response you would get being nuffer No 99 out of 100 per day who waste peoples time with no interest of buying anything.

Those businesses are there to be run by the people there as they see fit, but the No 1 objective is to put food on the table, send the kids to school, and pay the employees who need to do the same thing, and given they smelled a rat, and didnt send you anything, and you havent promised to spend any money at any of the 7 stores would make what they did the right choice with the evidence you presented.

ROFLMAO !!!

And just maybe, that's why they are not getting as much business as they expect.

I do business with people although it isn't my main income. I have spent half of my day answering emailed enquiries, most of whom haven't bought anything off me. I'm happy to do so, even though my time is worth money. Why ? Because word of mouth is the best advertising. Todays' query can be tomorrows sale.
I'd have to say that many many Australian businesses appear to have a web presence for show, out of every 100 enquiries I've made, perhaps 50 or less have answered. It's not only short sighted, its plain bloody rude.
If they expect to do business over the net then they have to invest in the resources to do so. A simple thanks for your enquiry but we can't help at this time would do the trick.
There are some great Australian businesses out there, and some awful ones from the customers point of view. For example one international courier service (we live to deliver) brought my package across the Pacific in 24 hours, great ! But it then took 3 DAYS for it to get 30km. With such effeciency how can some Australian businesses survive ? Buggered if I know.
But what I do know is that I watch the forum very carefully for positive feedback for companies. This info is then filed in my memory for possible future purchases. And I'd bet London to a dollar that I'm not alone.

Cheers
Jim

As a business owner I have to quote along with 3 other businesses to every school, goverment department that wants computer equipment and on dozens of insurance cliams per year. I might be lucky to get 2 percent of these jobs but as footloose and TD6 have said, thats customer service and if didn't answer them I would have got 0 percent of the sales. If you go into Repco or sprints and ask them the part number for a water pump for your vehicle you will have it in a few minutes, just seems a bit funny to me that 4X4 retailers seem on the whole to think they are above this and if you want the product we will give you the model numbers after you purchase from us. I wonder if the wholesaler is aware they don't want to hand out model numbers???
