Hi all
Looking at doing a day trip starting at the ZigZag via
the Lost City to Newnes. Can it be made into a round trip as it appears to be a dead end at Newnes or do I have to retrace the track.
Thanks

Far as I know you have to come back out of Newnes to Blackfellows.

Theres a track (not signposted) on the opposite side of the road to Black fellows hand and just a bit closer to Newnes. Takes you up (and that's the operative word) through the Garden of Stones National
Park - spectacular
views of the valley and if you follow it through it comes out at Cullen Bulen (I think). Track is steep in
places and a bit rocky and loose. Whatch for trail bikers.

signman,
track
ross p mentioned goes through a place called baal bone gap. did the trip twice now and found it quite challenging specially the start from wolgan gap road. the track was quite steep, loose and rocky. gave my paj a good workout. high clearance definitely helps, but standard should be ok. my brothers prado (2004) went through ok, apart from a few scrapes underneath. just walk the
hill first, pick your line and it should be ok. a mate guiding you uphill will be a big bonus.
watch out if the groud is wet and you are going down
hill. on my second trip we had some "exciting" moments. the
hill slopes a bit towards the
cliff, and combined that with a fairly steep track, wet muddy ground, loose rocks, and gravity...the paj started sliding sideways in the wrong direction. don't know how we got out of the bind, but somehow we did.
you can find directions in the '4wd treks close to
sydney' publication by boiling billy.
