I have a 98 Jack. Locking the doors with the keyless remote gives one beep of the horn and unlocking gives two beeps. I believe later Jacks (2000?) were able to cycle between horn beeps and blinker flashes. Question - is there any way I can do this or in the very least disable the horn beeps (without disabling the horn)?
Also, has anyone had contact and service from Jackeroo World recently? Never dealt with them before, but my faxes and emails are getting no response.
Thanks,
Rob.

From what I read in a trooper manual is that you can turn the horn off, but doesn't seem to say anything about lights flashing to replace the horn sound.
Maybe Savvas might know?

Hi Jackablue, does it say how to turn the horn off?

Hi Rob,
This procedure programs anti-theft horn to sound-off with
alarm activation or not sound-off.
1) Open driver's door. Using lock/unlock door switch,
lock/unlock door 3 times within 10 seconds of opening door. Go to next
step.
2) Close driver's door and re-open it 2 times within 10
seconds after step 1). Go to next step.
3) Using the lock/unlock door switch, lock/unlock door 3
times and close/open driver's door within 10 seconds after step 2). Go
to next step.
4) If answer back mode changes, the control unit will cycle
lock/unlock with interval of one second. If answer back mode doesn't
change, control unit will cycle lock/unlock 3 times with one second
intervals.
With Jackeroo World, it's best to call them. It really is a one man show, but they have some good value stuff.
Cheers mate!

I just re-read my post. While it is the published process, I wonder what designer/engineer sits there and dreams these things up for a production car.
I want their job! I can have heaps of fun with this.

Rob,
One more thing. My understanding is that you can turn the horn on or off, but the lights still operate either way. Is this how yours operates?
I'm also curious because when a Jackaroo is sold new, it only has the turn indicators setup to flash when arming or disarming the security system. Somewhere along the line, someone has changed it on yours.

Thanks Savvas, I'll try it tomorrow - otherwise the neighbours won't be happy :-)

Sorry Savas didn't see your last follow up before I posted
mine.
The lights certainly don't operate during arming or disarming, just the horn.
I once saw a guy at a 7-11 store arm his and the blinkers flashed. I asked him how he did this and he showed me how to cycle between blinkers and horn. His was a later model Jack and I couldn't get it to work on
mine.

Robbg,
I have a procedure that really works. Tried posting it to Jackaroo Clubs for other people's reference, but none of them gave a tinker's toss.
The secret is in the elapsed time from start to end.
(1998) UBS Series JACKAROO
REMOTE ENTRY -Turning Chirp (Horn) Confirmation ON/OFF
Annoyed with the horn beeping every time you lock/unlock the car using the remote control key ?
Well turn it off and save your sanity !!!
This procedure toggles the audible confirmation on/off when using the Remote Control key.
All steps should be followed carefully with steps 2 – 7 performed within a 15 second interval.
1. Ensure all doors are closed but unlocked.
2. Insert key in driver’s door lock.
3. Open the driver’s door.
4. Turn key to lock-unlock 3 times.
5. Close and open the driver’s door 2 times. (door pin switch may be toggled instead)
6. Turn key to lock-unlock 3 times.
7. Close and open the driver’s door 1 time. (or toggle door pin switch)
Successful confirmation: The doors will automatically lock/unlock 1 time.
If you wish to turn Chirp confirmation back on, simply repeat the process.

About the lights.
The internal (dome) light will turn on when door is unlocked with remote key and turn off when locked. This is to assist entry at night.

Thanks to all who responded, especially Savvas and Sandman. I followed your intructions this morning and - IT WORKED - couldn't believe it, not that I should ever doubt
forum advice :-)
So the horn chirps are no more, but I'm still wondering - is there some way I turn on the blinker flashes to confirm arm and disarm?
Thanks again guys.
Rob.

Like I said earlier there is nothing that I read that suggests blinkers will then activate.
