Can anybody advise if there is a website or other where it gives info on what treks or parts of the country can be done in a Camper Trailer and what in a Van. We know to do the Simpson, Tanami, Canning etc in a tent.
I was thinking there must be someone who has seen most of this country and kept a log or written a book or posted on a website.
Doing a 2/3yr+ trip and will change from a camper to a van after doing the more remote bits.
Any 2cents worth will be apprec.

Have you had a chance to go through the trek notes on this site? I have found them very handy and informative.

Have you considered a roof-top tent? We've had our EeziAwn now for 3 years or so, and it hardly ever comes off the car. It's excellent for overnight stops - not great for multi-day stays. It travells along with all the bedding inside, so there is far more room in the car. On hot summer nights, the elevation means cool breezes, and on winter nights you are warmer being off the ground.
We're doing the Cape trip next year, and will look forward to having our roof-top along. They're great in inclement weather, and as an added bonus - I'm not sure that crocs know how to climb a ladder..... but I might be wrong ;)

Oddy - have a look at OpenSky in
Sydney for more info. I found them really helpful. I think the guy's name was Hans.
Worth an enquiry anyways.....

We have travelled most of the country, kept very detailed notes about everyting and posted it all in the near 100 trek notes on this site. Michelle also the other day adjusted the trek rating system to advise which treks are suitable for campers and also caravans. To read the trek ratings click on the little cars that show up and you will see the number of cars ralated to the campers and caravans. Then use the main treknotes search (Trip Planning Menu) and knowing you are looking at say 3 cars you will easily be able to see all the treks that are suitable for a camper trailer. We actually travelled for two full years towing so there is also a heap of info in the Travel Journal (Trip Planning Menu).
Good luck and enjoy.
