I am about to do the track from
Esperance to Balladonia and then along the telegraph track to
Norseman. Has anyone done this recently and can tell me the condition of the track?
The latest Western 4WDriver magazine has a good writeup, but they appear to have done the track several months ago. I also found a writup on this website , but that was from over a year ago.
I will be taking a camper trailer through with me, and will be going in a group of at least 3 other cars.
Any tips would be useful. (Any good fishing spots would be fabulous)
Thanks
Marty

Talking to the right person here! we were working on mapsheets south of the telegraph track and have travelled it many times. I also did the
poison creek to Balladonia less than a month ago. The track that leaves the farmland near
poison creek and heads North to the israilite bay/ Balladonnia
intersection is a bit rocky and rough but after this it is pretty good but slowish20-50kph
places to see are Mt Ragged (dont forget to climb it) Balbinya
homestead,
pine creek and a few other
places. The Telegraph track is quite boring with alot of burntout stretches. There are 2 lakes 1 near
norseman has a cause way and the other has a go around when wet. The track is very good with 60-80k possible for most of it. Dont hesatate to ask if you want more info as I have travelled the area extensivly

oh
yea fishing spots. Problem with that time of year is wind. My favourite spot is
Thomas river not necc for the fishing but it is good but for the campgrounds alongside the river which goes out to sea. If the fishing is crap you can visit boolenup lake nearby and the nearby Tagon beach (good fishing) is open again. You can drive right along
the beach past pt jedacorradup (good but difficult fishing) at this point you can drive to the massive
sand dunes (dont get bogged like me) or drive around a serios of points (good
camping) and take the inland track to mt arid
Poison creek is good fising with some deep close holes last month. you can drive all along
the beach there and then up to the top of mt pasely and down around a serios of headland /beaches this can be followed all the way round to bellangers beach and then out to the isralite bay track (very overgrown) I have visited most of the beaches east of cape le grande and can give you more detailed info on any of the Areas mentioned

got me there - which bay?. I usually avoid the campgrounds
camping at the day
park at
thomas river the night I get there (bad I know but all I do is
park my campervan there overnight) as it is a good spot then
camp at the base of the sandhills behind the foredunes near pt jeddacorrudup. Do the same at poison. The only people I meet usually are the ones that tow me out when my big lug gets bogged

oh I reckon you mean isralite bay. Only been that far east once ( not including a trip tp culver and Toolina) Didnt hang around long but tried to take the inland track to
wattle camp but was beaten back by vegetation (my campervan is 2.7m high and too fat)

biggest problem with the telegraph track are the camels. They will not get off the track and to get past them you have to overtake them which is quite hairy
