Hi
This may be a big ask, but can anyone recommend a
campsite about
2-2.5 hours from
Sydney. Pref with somewhere to swim ie: river, lake,
ocean (but not essential).
Just want to relax in the bush and (hopefully) get away from the crowds. Looking to go for three days on Boxing Day.
Cheers
Caren

2-2.5 hours from
Sydney is not going to get you very far.
Newns near Lithgo is a nice place to
camp. Not much
water for swimming.
Dingo Dell - Kanagra Walls. Once again I dont think there is
water for swimming
If you wanted to travel further Bendethra in the Duea NP has good swimming and should be quieter as its harder to get to.
I suspect that anywhere near the coast is going to be busy.

You have to cross the Kowmung River to get to
Dingo Dell from the main road through Kanagra Walls.... and there is usually
water in it a bit further upstream. The
Dingo Dell campsite might be a bit chokka though during the hols......

Could try Wollondilly River Station, at Goodmans Ford on the
Wombeyan Caves Road, approx. 1 Hours drive from Mittagong, it is right on the Wollondilly river.

G'day Caren,
Check the Colo River along the
Putty Road, there is a
camp ground there but don't know how full it will be at that time of year. Not a bad drive either once you get out of the big smoke.
Kind regards

You can
camp in My front yard in the Blue Mountains. We won't be there but
the pool is avaliable.
Have you looked at the Janolan Stat Forest or the Abocrombie river area. Only problems this time of year are the flies.
Hope this helps.

Abercrombie NP south of
Oberon on the
Goulburn Rd, most
camping areas will have
water in the
creek's, plenty of shade, flies could be a prob but probably no worse than anywhere else, will get you away from the humidity too. Going via
Oberon takes us about 3 -3 1/2 hrs from northern suburbs.

Hi Caren,
Went to Newnes for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I have added a couple of photos to our rig to give you some idea of what its like. Lovely green very large
camping area. Drop
toilet is only facility. The
ruins are fascinating. River was very low but still refreshing to wallow in.
Wollondilly River Station is a nice setting, we also enjoyed Hills End.
If you discover somewhere not crowded this time of year let us know,
Carolyn

Hi Caren,
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned
Yengo National Park - get there through Wisemans Ferrry and St. Albans. I must admit there isn't much
water up that way, but it is beautiful, but like everywhere else may be very crowded just then.
Have a lovely Christmas,
Cheers
Anni
