Hi all, we're looking at buying a second hand Dingo Camper Trailer (built in 2000) that has 16ft tent, kitchen etc. Can anyone give me their thoughts on this brand of CT, please? We're a family of 4 and will be doing mostly National Park/Coastal type camping, with the odd trip into the red stuff!

Thanks in adavance!

Gordon

Flappan, I'm buying second hand so I shouldn't have to meet the owner ;-)

Fortunately, I found a number of threads that talk about the positive aspects of the trailer because for a minute I was worried!

gday gordy.
we bought a second hand dingo a few months ago.
we got the 16ft one as well but no kitchen.
we have 4 kids who can all sleep on the floor and me and the mrs on the bed.
so far we have had no problems except last weekend when we were setting up in a huge downpour a fair bit of water leaked between the tent and the anexxe.
nothing got inside the camper though.
apart from that i cant think of any foreseable problems with it.
canvas work is well done trailer looks strong enough.

Great! I only have 2 kids so the inside should feel like a mansion!

Have a look at Tambo Cooper camper for a good quality camper under $6000 it's good value and if you order it and mention ExplorOz there is a discount.

Baz, I've heard a lot of good things about Tambo however, typically I have left things to the last minute! Tambo can't build one until mid-Feb and I want ours for a trip which we start on 1 Jan.

weve got a heavy duty off road trailer (Dingo 2001 ) , workmanship finish ect. is top shelf, can't fault the company myself he's a straight shooter, with a good product I dont think you'll be disapointed with it on or off road we're not

Thanks all, the one I am looking is a 2000 model with the 16ft tent plus annexe and sides. It has a custom made kitchen with 2 ring burner and drawers, gas and water plumbing. The asking price is $6,800. Is this too much? I have read a number of posts on different forums that basically state that the Dingo is a solid trailer that is pretty cheap. I have looked at the Dingo website but they don't include prices so I can't compare.

So I guess I am after some indicative prices so I can compare the asking price with what others have paid.

Cheers

Gordon,
I have a basic on-road but the same tent size, no kitchen, paid $3500 new last christmas. The same set-up with leaf spring 4X4 trailer and basic kitchen was around $6800, with Al-KO suspension around $8,000. These were NEW prices.
Hope this helps
Rolande

I had a DIngo CT that did the Canning Stock Route, Tanami Track & heaps of off road work, no problems with it at all.
Obviously the main advantage of buying secondhand is that you don't have to deal with Dingo Jack.
