Went to Adelaide (200klm away) on Tuesday ,looking to buy a car fridge
after reading all the posts on here getting advice from people i was @ Robe with from eo & looking @ many car fridge websites it was time to go buy one
i had a fair idea of what i was going to buy & had a list of camping & 4x4 stores to visit .I also rang the fridge shop as jimbo advised, to see if they had any specials comming up that wasnt on their site yet but found they only had specials for 50 & 60 litre models
we went to many stores all the same price & & brands
But found Rob @ Battery World in Salisbury Plains very helpfull & friendly when it came to fridges, batteries ofcourse & solar power
We also went to a national camping store chain in northern Adelaide & couldnt get a staff member to even say hullo let alone ask advice on the fridges they had displayed
after visiting a few stores & gathering prices.I went to camping World @ Salisbury
Run by Gerry & Leslie Manhood ( Who untill they bought this store 2 years ago owned a takeaway store in Port Vincent where i live )
Now this isnt an ad for them although it might seem so lol
Gerry has always been knowagable about camping long before he bought the store & took my best price & asked his advice .I'd rather give my money to someone i know if the price is right
We settles on the Waeco 80 for many reasons some being its versatilaty of being a frid/e freezer or both @ the same time its dairy compartment & its one size bigger than i think i need ( now from past experiences i have found that i dont want to be saying in 3 months time "gee i wish i had bought the bigger one " lol )
Gerry beat the best price by $100 & thru in the 240 transformer & a duell themo
Last night went for a beach run on the other Side of the York panisular @ Parsons beach & we made taco's & watched the sun go down ( wondering what the poor people where doing ) then remmebered that we are hahahaha
All i can say in conclusion is the Waeco 80 was the right choice for me @ this stage
I looked @ Reefer,Trailblazer,Engle,Evakool & ofcourse Waeco. the price difference was amazing amoung the brads & i did spend a ltlle more than i wanted but got what i paid for

OOOh Is that a Hartley 16 TS in the background in your rig pic?
Port Vinnie with a 16 TS would be about as close to the good life as you can get. No?
Over your way a while ago en route to Coobowie. Wondered if there were and EOers in the vacinity.
Cheers, Camper

I bought one not long ago myself. Kept the icecreams frozen at Inskip Point in Qld two weeks ago. Next trip is to Tassie on the 27 December. I don't think it'll have any trouble down there LOL.

you will be more than pleased with the Waeco. I have given mine a hammering and going strong. Got some dust under the control panel which was promptly fixed without question in warranty, so also have good backup service.
Enjoy.

Warren, we have bought almost all our gear from camping gear at salisbury and have found them to be fantastic to deal with and willing to price match etc..... in fact i would say i am paying his mortgage lol....not an add for them but its good to see customer service still alive and well. We ha a few probs putting up one of the dome tents we got from there and Gerry called past on his way home from work and sorted it for us.....(try getting that service from rays?)

Hey Stuart,

If you're paying Gerry's morgage, where's my cash going? :-)

Have bought a lot of my camping gear from Salisbury Camping World.
I feel like a kid in a lolly shop every time I walk in there.

Have to agree with both you and Warren on the friendly service Gerry & staff give and they have a good range of goods on display.

Have a great Christmas Brew and pass on our season's greetings to Dawn and the girls.

See ya in the great outdoors!

Bill & Bev
