Hi all, thanks for all your posts re post 18792 (most were just wishes of best of luck which is really all you can offer me!)

Final verdict re rear diff- as though, sand and dirt in though primary seal and then through secondary seal letting grit into bearing. Could see the bearing had been compromised, still had a fair bit of life in it but needed replacing at some stage.

Warranty co. paid about $700, bearing, labour. I paid $70 for disposeables and disposal. Fair enough.

Just wondering, the seal may have been compromised when doing bog holes at border track. Because of lowish clearance of the diff (not huge tyres), thick hard clay and mud and the fact that I plowed through a lot of it (got a wheelbarrow of clay out from under the car after), this may have contributed. Will stay clear of severe mud in the near future. Good on the warranty company - All states warranty network extended warranty. Came up with the goods.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe Christmas and New Year. Remember to burn your toilet paper, report the hoons and stop and help someone in trouble.

D-Jack

you wernt out playing in mud were you - naughty!
It never ceases to amaze me how people get excitd when they see mud personally after working in some very wet and muddy pits and driving down too many haulroads that have been atacked by an excited watercart driver all mud means to me is an excessive time cleaning usually with substandard cleaning gear and after seeing the damage with corrosion and chewed out brake parts on work vehicles I try to avoid it.

I agree. Mud is heaps of fun in work fourbys but sucks in your own.

I spent the last 3 weeks onsite and it rained heaps. So the end result was a big clay mess :-)

Davoe we don't get to see much mud living in the BigSmoke in WA!! We do get excited! LOL
But yes, the Staun cleaner and air compressor get a bloody good work out after a day in the mud and I wonder why the hell I did it, it's kinda like a big night on the bleep . You know it's going to suck later, but you don't care at the time! LOL
