Hi!

There's an Engel ad on p94 of Caravan World's campertrailer guide showing a caravan with what looks like 3 fold out double beds. One on each end which is a standard sort of set-up, but with another in the middle.

I've never seen one like this before.

Could anyone please tell me what type/model this van is ... or one with a similar set-up? (ie. 3 fold out double beds).

Thanks,
Poe :)

Don't get this mag, but it could be a Windsor Rapid.

Nah don't think so Ross. Thanks. Just had a look at the rapid.

The one in the mag has the middle bed folding outwards from the centre, just as the 2 on the ends do. It's not internal, so-to-speak. All beds have a canvass roof, not fibreglass.

I just saw a Jayco Hawk in a yard at Adelaide that had this setup. Two flyout ends with double beds and a table/bench seat setup in the main cabin that also converted to double bed. 6 berth all up.

Thanks but picture this ... the double in the middle extends out the same as the ones on the ends ... only it's in the middle .. so there are 3 canvass sections protruding from from the body of the van.

Thanks anyway.

Poe :)

... or to put it another way ... the 3rd bed folds out from the side of the van ... yeah, that's a better way to describe it.

Don't know of anything like this. It would be a bloody wide Camper to have 3 double beds?

There is a Camprite Camper which has one Double and two single beds that a couple of Forumites have.
(Melissa in WA is one that I know of)

No, no , no ... this is definately a wind-up or a poptop van, with 2 double beds and a 3rd bed coming of the side ... it may be a single or double ... can't tell from the pic.

I'll try and send a photo of it to some link soon.

Thanks Sand Man.

Poe

I think I know the one you mean, but I have no idea what sort it is. I thought it was a new Jacyo style but just looked at the website and and wrong.

Anyway, I can confirm that there is something out there, so everyone Poe's not going mad!

Thanks D-Jack!

Looking at the picture in CW (price sticker dated 3/12/2004) it looks like a great compact unit. Off-road, space for what looks like 6 bodies without the need to set up bedding every night. Even has air-con or heater on the roof.

Could be just the right thing for when the (aging) in-laws come to visit and sight-see with us and the kids.

I forgot to take a pic (of the pic in the magazine) before heading off to use another pc to load some other pics, so it'll be a day or 2 yet before I get the chance again.

Until then ...

Brainstorm. I just emaile Engel to ask if they know, but it's probably a photo taken from "stock." Let's see what they respond with.

Poe :)

Guess what?

I think it may be an American van. I was thinking that the tow vehicle was a Subaru Forester, but looking closer it looks like something American. Jeep perhaps.

Clue #2. Unless the photo has been reversed, the door of the poptop is on the left hand side of it ... making it for use in Europe or Nth America.

Clue #3. It may be an American desert scene ... not Oz as I first thought. They can look very similar sometimes.

Some of you wouldn't in the least bit interested in this issue but it looks like a pretty good option for my needs ... if it's in Oz.

Poe,

I am pretty sure the van is a Coromal Silhouette - www.coromal.com.au.

The side bit is the kitchen.

Thanks Whitey ... it does look like one from the pics at that address.

You've put my mind at rest.
