Looking at spending a couple of weeks in the
Grampians (coming from
Adelaide). Is there much 4wd'ing or are the roads fairly good. Obviously the
camping and bush walking is good but would also be nice to throw in some 4wd'ing if possible.
Thanks,

The Grampions are great. Plenty of excellent walks and
places to
camp.
There are also plenty of 4WD tracks from easy to a bit more dificult.
Call at the National
Parks & Wildlife office in
Halls Gap as they have excellent maps on all the tracks etc.
I was there in Nov 2003 and had a great time.
Cheers
Brian

Suggest coming in from the West (Wartook side) and explore Chinamens Track off Roses Gap &
Wallaby Rocks Track south of there then past
Moora Res (stop for a look) and down Vic Valley to
Dunkeld.
Old Gold mines on eastern slopes coming back to
Halls Gap.
Forgot to mention
McKenzie Falls &
Boroka Lookout.
Lots to see but spring is best after rain &
wildflowers are emerging.
Parks should be able to send details proir to trip.
And yes, keep a keen eye out for the
Grampians Puma, I kid you not!

Don't go in school holiday time. Because of its close proximity to
Melbourne it will be like Collins Street, (Pitt St if you are in
Sydney).
