G'day all,
Got to see the new discovery 3 in the flesh yesterday as there are finally two available for the public to view here in Melbourne.Only the V8 was on offer at the moment. There are about twenty running around the country in the hands of the motoring press who are giving the new model quite a workout on and off the road. This new model is very square almost Volvo like and very stylish with huge rear tail lights and looks too classy to venture off road. The air suspension is unreal as the car is automatically lowered for entry and then raises for travel, and then if travelling at high speed will lower again. The second and third row seats are trick as they fold completely flat to make a flat floor in the back two metres long and with the tail gate up it almost resembled my HQ panel van from 1973.The motoring press had given the V8 a hard time and apparently as stated on the trip computer it had returned 15/100 and the diesel 12/100 but this V8 sounded smooth like a commodore not grunty like an 8.Love it or hate it there will be plenty running around on April 1 when the cars are released to their new owners as plenty of orders are being taken.
cheers mark

Truckster,
it was a rubber air supension hose. Not like a whole engine or something - something a Nissan fan would be more familiar with.

How is 5th gear in the GU Nissan by the way still giving probs is it, we could go on for ages and name faults with ALL cars but where would it get us nowhere, just enjoy what you drive and don't bag other peoples choices, i don't unless it's tongue in cheek.

Baz.

Oh well said Bob!!!

The nissan never once died in the hands of magazines before hitting the streets... Apparently it only had a few 100klms on the clock?

Nope no 5th gear issues in TD6's.

Saw one parked outside a dealership here in Adelaide.

Looked very nice in the metal. Might have to call in for a closer look one day!

saw one (silver) in George St, Sydney on Friday. At a glance from 30m, finished like a Porsche product. Very flash. Mate has a 95 Disco TD and went out, offroad with one the other day, no report yet but will find out what they did.

For the benefit of other readers,

the D3 on the day was a pre-production model and driven by one of their engineers. So he was not afraid to push it, probably didn't even have to wash it.
Looking forward to seeing that report Baz.
