Hi everyone, back from big holiday and did not leave Queensland (as some will have noticed). Did not get new Toyota or new boat but Ian did build a camper trailer (very comfortable and does not leak dust). Did go Barramundi fishing at Lake Awoonga - successfully (not me though sadly) did go to see The Lion King (and shopping) in Sydney. Had such a good time I could not remember how to turn on the computer yesterday and realised my Membership is overdue (rectified tho). Hope everyone having a good 2005 and lots of trips planned. Happy New Year to all.

Hey Rick, still have plans for Smoky Bay (soon) - just holiday turned into large family commitments - YOU know what it's like to have elderly parents (your Dad is Brilliant though) and children and relations etc. - Ian is the only boy amongst four sisters (and much in demand). He left to go Diamantina Barra fishing this a.m. at 6:00 (still dark here unlike the east coast where the sun comes up at 4.30 a.m.). Still some yabbies here - found a few yesterday in between mowing. Weather quite good - about 24 at the moment and it's nearly 8:00 a.m. - up to 42 yesterday, not bad. Having trouble with my email IN (since updating to Outlook Express6 and Nortons 2005) have to go through my IT server web to get INMAIL. A problem for later today methinks. Talk soon - great photos, Rick.

When in July are ya gunna be in the Desert??
Could be in the vicinity meself around that time.... (headin' back from the West via Anne Beadell)... though it'll most likely be toward the end of the month (at the earliest) before we are there...
Might bump inta ya " 'round the traps" somewhere;-)....

G'day Ed....at this stage we're in Birdsville around 9,10 & 11/7 (for the EO gathering) and then plan to head west across Simpson. Would probably be in Dalhousie about 3 or 4 days later I guess. Then we'll be heading for Oodnadatta (probably)....not sure yet. Need to plan a bit more; but at the same time remain flexible....

Ruth......you know me too well.....you must take everything I say with a grain of red sand. hahaha

Cya all later.

By golly Aunty Ruth, methinks you had passed away. Am so relieved that you and that naughty bloke Ian are still in the land of the living. Have not heard a peep from you since the last Cuppacino at your place. We have sold the Red Carpet we bought for your visit, as it was gathering dust on the verandah. Much water has flowed into the sea since my last visit to the beautiful Birdsville but we are reasonably hale and hearty and busy as ever.

Hey Sparkie, I love Many Peaks also and going up over the hill. We took the houseboat out on the Lake (bit exxy after what you get for the same money on the Murray River - luxury all the way down there - very basic at the Lake). My brother-in-law was practising casting from the houseboat tied up in front of the fishing inspector's office while waiting for someone to turn up before we cast off and lo and behold a strike - and a beautiful barra landed on the houseboat - it was so funny the fishing inspector and mates nearly fell off the verandah!!! Good fishing out there at the moment - make sure you have a Golden Bomber lure.
I'm not used to lure fishing so it was good experience but my arms got sore from casting all the time - sure would like to get a strike.

Ruth and Ian, great to know you are safe and well. Hope to be able to get to Birdsville in July on our way east. Just reckon it's the shortest way of course. LOL The way to see friends in Mackay that is. I had heard you were shopping in Sydney and certainly noticed you didn't make it to the Great Ocean Road.

Look forward to catching up and swapping some gossip. Seems like I catch up with my Bro more than you do by his comment above. Adopted that is.
